Roberto Martinez discussion

Who mate??

I'm not having that Ferguson or Sheedy or Unsworth are up to it, ultimately.

Need somebody with experience and there is really nobody available...

and nobody say Mourinho...

or Rafael...

If we go out of the cup our season is over. We're safe and we won't make Europe. There's no risk involved

He's messed it up for 2 seasons now mate. It's not exactly the first time is it? Going to Kiev with a lead and no other game plan than to do the usual, the same away at City in the semi. All of the other games we have thrown away which have and are still being pointed out on numerous occasions.

We can keep going on about could of / should of / would of, but we just aren't producing results. Only a real antagonist would dig their heels in and not accept this as the status quo for us under Martinez.

I'm on the fence mate.

Last week I was sticking by him firmly but this result - or more specifically the manner of it - has swayed me quite a bit.

I'm not set on wanting him out before season's end, but he needs to show some drastic improvement or he'll be under serious, serious pressure.

Then keep him until summer mate.

Whatever happens, 10 lg games isn't the time - unless you're in serious danger - to change, IMO.

End of the season it has to be reassessed.

if he does get sacked and the new manager does well, i hope history is kind to him...im sure barkley, stones, deulofeu, lukaku, and coleman will be greatful

As much as RM gets the stick as well, the players can't get off scot-free from this.

They've been abysmal at times this season when we've needed them to have some guts and determination.

maybe but we cant exactly sack the players, we can get rid of the clown responsible for organising them into a team though.

Can imagine that bungling idiot kenwright telling moshiri on the phone why Bobby the clown needs to stay in charge.

Another charlatan spinning bs for a living.

None mate. He's as safe as houses.

I think Moshiri is weighing up the thoughts of daz4matty, though.

You're right, but that's not healthy is it? If this team is under performing, and I think people on both sides of this debate agree at least on that point, then the manager should be under scrutiny. If he's not, and positions in the club are not based on performances and outcomes, then that where is the motivation to change and improve going to come from.

We are very poor at defending crosses, that is a coaching issue. We do not manage the ball well when in match winning positions, that is a management issue. We do not do the nasty side of the game well (and by that I don't mean carving down players and hoofing the ball up the pitch or out of play - I mean standing up for our young players, influencing the officials or preventing opponents from influencing officials etc..) and, whilst this is predominantly an issue of our on the park personnel, this is also a management and recruitment issue.

These things need improving and, at the moment, there is no sign that Mr Martinez is addressing these issues when you examine the situation using any objective measurement. At the very least this should be something that he is challenged to improve.

I want RM to stay mate but he really does need to start learning.

He's shown signs of being able to adapt, but when needed most he's failed to do so.

I've got a feeling he may have lost the faith of the players now. Not that they won't play for him or anything, but there's something wrong with their mentality.

Line someone up before doing what needs to be done

To be honest I don't think that matters in the short term. A caretaker (any caretaker to be fair), would probably do less damage over the last few games of the season. We need a real manager in time for next pre-season. Hopefully with more cash to back us than ever, we should be able to raise our sights & attract someone with a slightly better CV than Senor Martinez.

To be fair mate, as I said before, all but about 10-15 people in football would want this job. The talent pool is a large one, Everton need to aim high and get a top manager in before we get left behind.

Sure there are players that need moving on as well, but it all starts with the manager. Everton have hit a lot of headlines just recently with the investment talk, and billionaires etc. They could make a real statement of intent now by getting rid of Martinez and bringing in a genuine top manager.

That puts a whole new outlook on the Summer for current players and potential signings.

Managers, like players, have agents too. We don't have to wait till Bobby gets the boot to look at who's available. Once word gets out that we're looking at a replacement you best believe every agent will be on the blower telling us their client is available. It would be remiss of the board not to plan for all contingencies and I'm sure are planning for a future without Bobby.
