Roberto Martinez discussion

None mate. He's as safe as houses.

I think Moshiri is weighing up the thoughts of daz4matty, though.

If we lose on Saturday, and then get our traditional gaping by the Gooners at home the following week, Goodison will be like a bear pit.

Most match goers have been questioning him for months anyway, if our season ends on Saturday night, then the pressure on him will mount, and will be vocalised.

To say he's 'safe as houses' despite producing a woeful league performance for the 2nd season running would be 'plucky little Everton' to a tee. I doubt our new investor will be quite so accommodating of failure, as you are.

It's a massive game for him Saturday, make no mistake.

I want RM to stay mate but he really does need to start learning.

He's shown signs of being able to adapt, but when needed most he's failed to do so.

I've got a feeling he may have lost the faith of the players now. Not that they won't play for him or anything, but there's something wrong with their mentality.

9 yrs as a manager and he hasnt learned

Then keep him until summer mate.

Whatever happens, 10 lg games isn't the time - unless you're in serious danger - to change, IMO.

End of the season it has to be reassessed.

Why wait?
We should take advantage of the coming weeks to let be known that there is/will be a vacancy at a club which now has funds to match its history. Give ourselves the extra time over the last few weeks of this season to search for and attract the right person. As someone also pointed out on here, bulleting this clown will also serve notice that we don't tolerate abject failure lightly any more.

To be fair mate, as I said before, all but about 10-15 people in football would want this job. The talent pool is a large one, Everton need to aim high and get a top manager in before we get left behind.

Sure there are players that need moving on as well, but it all starts with the manager. Everton have hit a lot of headlines just recently with the investment talk, and billionaires etc. They could make a real statement of intent now by getting rid of Martinez and bringing in a genuine top manager.

That puts a whole new outlook on the Summer for current players and potential signings.

That's true but I don't think it changes the fact that it would be a rushed decision at this point in terms of his replacement.

I think we need somebody experienced at top clubs and preferably the PL, but at the same time is a realistic option.

That does restrict us and it will be easier to achieve that in the summer if RM does go.

Flores again would be my choice as he's proven with Atletico and a winner with Valencia, plus his defensive strengths have kept Watford up pretty much while getting decent results.

I think he'd be a manager who could come into our side and retain the attacking flair but add that defensive solidity. Tbf I think RM could do this if he good just see the blatantly obvious...

If not, i'm sure we could attract a name like De Boer but then there's the factor of no Prem experience. Koeman as well but would he leave Southampton? Paulo Souza is doing well at Fiorentina and has experience in England also.

I think Mancini, potentially could be drawn to us but again he's at Inter and he's a bit of a nutter...

Nil Satis Nisi Optimum springs to mind. I wish the board would look at the badge once in a while.

Our results vs them at home under RM are 3-0 and 2-2, like...

That's the flip side of the argument but Moyes did not leave until May and it wasn't announced until May.

Summer is the time, as long as it would be done quickly.

I want RM to turn it around though and I'm still willing (for now) to give him until the end of the season. Changing manager to somebody who has no experience may also make up the minds of Rom and Stones etc that they will leave whoever the new manager ends up being...

Mate, that article is so so wrong and based on stats that don't tell the story.

I've been one of the biggest defendants of RM but he got that substitute horribly wrong. Lennon's pace and tenacity was quite clearly a huge bonus and to take him off for a striker when you're 2-0 up after missing a penalty with 10 men following our history of gifting opposition late goals... is amateur.
