I was listening to Talk sport and also the phone in after the game on BBC merseyside, there was a few fans that was saying "hes built the best squad in years give him time!. however is that not the whole issue? hes has argubly a top 4 side now for 2 years and we have finished in the bottom half 2 years in a row (assuming we carry on playing like this). when was the last time that happened? that is unbelivable. he needs to go now, the money we have spent, the players we have. we should be top 4, especially this year!.

Give over. £110mil on 23 players...

that's really not much.

He's underachieving but our motto that loads seem to live by entitles us to nothing.

He's messed up but the players need to shoulder a lot of responsibility as well. They're also failing to prove this theory that they're so great.

That's true but I don't think it changes the fact that it would be a rushed decision at this point in terms of his replacement.

I think we need somebody experienced at top clubs and preferably the PL, but at the same time is a realistic option.

That does restrict us and it will be easier to achieve that in the summer if RM does go.

Flores again would be my choice as he's proven with Atletico and a winner with Valencia, plus his defensive strengths have kept Watford up pretty much while getting decent results.

I think he'd be a manager who could come into our side and retain the attacking flair but add that defensive solidity. Tbf I think RM could do this if he good just see the blatantly obvious...

If not, i'm sure we could attract a name like De Boer but then there's the factor of no Prem experience. Koeman as well but would he leave Southampton?

I think Mancini, potentially could be drawn to us but again he's at Inter and he's a bit of a nutter...

I don't think you'd need to replace him immediately mate. Get rid, let people within the club know it's not been good enough. Tell them this club is heading for bigger things and if they want to be a part of it they need to work hard.

Put Unsworth or someone in as caretaker. Then have the process of finding a manager between now and the Summer. Once you get the deal in place for them to take over in the Summer, you hit the headlines again.

You could have totally changed the outlook of the club in a matter of months, especially in terms of the media profile. If you can get that big name as well, then even better, suddenly the Summer looks far more promising. As opposed to a manager who people are rightly questioning who looks to have us in the bottom half two seasons running with this group.

I like Flores as a manager. Not sure he'd be my first choice but I wouldn't object.
In all walks of life there are people who command instant respect. Be it from their personality or from their achievements. The rs have done that with Klopp, they've gone from players second guessing Brenda to Klopp having the respect of everyone straight away. People may not agree with him, but they'll follow him cos of who he is.

People like De Boer and Koeman who you mentioned have both won European Cups, and played at the very highest level. They would command instant respect as well, on that alone.

Phil McNulty is finally copping on a bit judging by his Twitter account.

Hopefully others will follow and the pressure will build

Looking at the BBC poll on the website regarding who is next for the sack, Martinez is 4th or 5th with only 3%

depressing that.. I know McClaren is under pressure and wait out in front but only 3% for Martinez ?!?!

sums it up really

It is a bit depressing, but that is looking at how BK and the club has stayed loyal to Moyes and to extent RM. The difference now is, RM has lost the majority of the fans, so this could change things. Then again we win on Saturday, it could change again. IMO it shouldnt matter, we win 5.0 on Saturday, he should still get the push

The league table doesn't lie. Those teams that are above us are better than us.
They have won more games and amassed more points.

That's the only way you can measure anything.

who needs to shoulder responasbility in the team though mate?

Lukaku- over 20 goals.
Barkley - neaqrly double figures for goals and assists
Del- nearly double figures for assists
Lennon- arguably our stand out player currently
Besic- keeps getting injured
cleverley- plays well on left, terrible in middle, not his choice where he plays
Barry- apparently our most experienced player and league winner
the defence- suddenly become terrible under a different manager?

I am lost as to who in the team we can point the blame at as well. The only constant factor this last 2 seasons has been the manager, the blame lies with the manager no-one else. any other club would have sacked him by now, and clubs who did sack their managers despite them 'over achieving' have gone on to great success.
