Roberto Martinez discussion

I've been havin' a goz at the bench on TV afterwards mate and more often than not there's only (out of the non-playing staff) FERGUSON & JIMMY the KIT look remotely peeved at times when results go against...
my wonder from that is how many NON martinez staff can actually see all this but can't say anything about it?

Last season's poor form was blamed on europe and 2nd season syndrome maybe we could blame this season on 3rd season syndrome and not being in europe

Europa hasn't affected Spurs this season has it? The World Cup didn't seem to affect Chelsea last season. The excuses are already there for next season, there's the Euros, may as well write off a top half finish now if Roberto's in charge.

Tbh I completely broke when he came out at the end of last season and said that we hadn't ever recovered from the first two games. That ludicrous excuse should have been enough to set alarm bells ringing for everyone but quite a few just lapped it up, even when he then blamed fatigue from the Europs league after promising all season that we wouldn't use it as an excuse. Honestly he's a nice guy but inadvertently he borders on a pathological liar in his press conferences.

It's the FA cup or broke as far as I'm concerned.

I've stuck by him up until now; conned by the fact he comes across as a nice guy and talks a good game, but I've had it.

Bringing another striker on in the 75th minute FFS! Surely Leon Osman's experience would've been the better option.

Also for all the arguments about passing it around too much or getting it forward quicker.
None of this matters. We simply cannot defend crosses, set up badly when the opposition are in possession, and if we play a high press, we are goosed after 75 minutes.

These are all issues related to coaches, tactics and managerial set up.

I don't even think that should be enough to save him.

It'd be a sticking plaster that masked the reality of where we are under this bloke.

That's the crux of the issue.

RM gets slated for a lot of stuff which is actually lazy criticism as it is rarely our 'passing it around' that costs us.

It is a basic inability to defend and ultimately I thought he had shown he had it in him to change as proved by our defensive stats since the turn of the year.

Unfortunately I was proved wrong on Saturday.

The players must also take the blame. For all RM's faults, he isn't the one that instructs Mori to miss all three of his headers that lead to the West Ham goals, or Jags to get constantly caught under the ball etc, or Barkley's terrible attempt at a block.

The worry is that he genuinely saw sense in his second substitution, and there seems to be no indication that we ever practice defending crosses.

Jones, Lawrence and Martinez have to take the blame for that.

Any coach that wins our first trophy in 21 years would deserve to stay on, unless he got us relegated or we finished 15th or below...

Either way, we need a total reshuffle this summer when it comes to our defence - or more specifically defensive structure rather than personnel. That should be an order from on high that it won't be tolerated.

Not wrong about orders from above there Toff. IF (and it's a big if in capital letters ) he gets given another season,he better have the pre season boxed off sharpish because the one after the world cup was disgraceful for a professional team to be so under cooked and the extended breaks he was giving players who barely had any minutes during the tournament. Can't be arsed with that again and the ready made excuses after the Euros

He'll be swanning around France this summer. lol

We can't keep a 2 goal lead at home with 12 mins to go...we surrender 3 goals.

All these people talking up an fa cup trophy need to wake up.

How many consistent winning teams can't defend?

Get rid...

Not since 2000 had West Ham won a top-flight match after falling two goals behind but they were facing Roberto Martinez’s Everton, the opposite of a good team who can play badly yet still win.

I guarantee Moshy has a fully functioning BS detector and it's going off the scale when Bobby is around. Be gone as soon as the season is over.

liverpools new owners gave dalglish a full season with loads of money to spend, i think generally new owners give a manager time...be very interesting to see what happens close season

Im done with him, thought I would calm down over the weekend, but I want him gone even more.

I have stood by him all season, and defended him, but I cant defend him now with these comments, West Brom just went above us!!!!

I've been exactly the same mate. Enough is enough, his comments don't help but its far to often he's making excuses.
