Roberto Martinez discussion

Would be interesting to gauge opinion here - Do people think we have a better chance of keeping Lukaku and Stones if Martinez is around next year, or make a change immediately the season finishes in an attempt to keep the pair of them here! At the moment sadly I can't see either of them being here at the start of next season whatever happens!

If coco stays both will go.
If coco goes it depends who comes in

Hiring a high calibre manager may persuade them to stay...big if though..

2 up against West Ham, we're comfortable, we don't have to chase the game, he should have been looking to make sure West Ham had no chance to get back in the game, so he should have parked the bus and saw the game out, he had options to do this, but he takes Lennon off (I know he was knackered, but as I say, he had other options) and brings on Niasse, a striker. For me it's his obsession with always wanting to play football, and not to go defensive that's the problem. By the way, I'm a Martinez fan, and still want him to stay, but he really does need to start learning from his mistakes.

Agreed 100%

get rid mate. Only way we are keeping the likes of lukaku is if we have some balls to sack martinez, bring in a manager that club has shown a bit of ambition in and have him sit down and say to him, give me 12 months or i'll sell you myself.

You would be suprised how much of a difference it would make to some, luakaku right now won't be here next season if we are all being honest. not in a 'selling' sort of way, in a wanting to use his talent to get somewhere sort of way. A new manager might be able to keep him for 12 months at least and if he can get the team attacking as well as we can, and learn how to defend, then we have a shot at doing something next year!

as the tag line goes, a team who leaks goals with 2 holding midfielders, something has to be wrong here.

As my 16 year old lad said, he could have brought Baines on at left back and pushed Oviedo up into midfield.

Funny thing is I said to my dad at the time that it was a horrid sub. Just knew something was going to backfire.

There were so many options - one of which was just leave it as it was for another 5 minutes or so and let us kill off the game.

yeh I'm not saying we aren't underachieving.

I'm saying don't say he's spent loads of money as our spend is still not huge compared to teams around us. One thing RM can't be slated for is his work in the transfer market

100% infact there isnt many players i wouldnt have that hes bought. but hes not using then correctly at all he never has, he doesnt have a clue which team to play. took him 5 months before he started playing Lennon instead of Kone, Robles instead of howard. Tactically he is awful. but yes his transfers have been good.

His first season says otherwise mate.

And at times his tactics are spot on from the start of games.

His issue is his inability to change tactics to adapt to a situation in a game. He seemed to have done it perfectly on Saturday, and then threw all that hard work away with the Lennon sub.

What do you think now @davek ? Patience wearing thin or just another day in football ?

Not taking the mickey by the way, seriously, a lot of people backing him are now saying its time to go robertooo.

i definatly disagree here, yes the first season he was great, the second season and this season MY GOD! his inability to keep hold of a lead, look at th eresults from last year! he hasnt learnt. even takin aggregate leads to other teams in cup competitions, he had no idea what team to play in Kiev, and we lost 5-2! its so poor.

...his first season saw him inherit a squad that was, for better or worse, well drilled in the art of defending.

Since then he's managed to suck that away entirely to be replaced with occasional bouts of flair and attacking football.

We need the middle ground....and he'll never, EVER attempt to wander into it.
