Roberto Martinez discussion

Wonder if players will do chelsea on him...then he will be quickly finished...but no, the players are too nice...

i definatly disagree here, yes the first season he was great, the second season and this season MY GOD! his inability to keep hold of a lead, look at th eresults from last year! he hasnt learnt. even takin aggregate leads to other teams in cup competitions, he had no idea what team to play in Kiev, and we lost 5-2! its so poor.

Exactly - situations within games. A few anomalies beside I'm rarely concerned by his initial selection or tactics - it's just when something happens that changes the game and means he has to change tactics - he seemingly can't do it - or at least not on a consistent basis.

I think it's time to realize that Arkwright is the same sort of manager as Warnock. Good at getting teams into the Premier League and good for a season, but they get found out and eventually take their team back to the Championship. Anyone who thinks differently is entitled to his/her opinion, but history is on my side [Reuters]

Last game's been gnawing away at me conscience. I haven't gone more than ten minutes without Saturday's (latest) debacle being out of my mind completely. It's perpetually there...

I've tried, but I can't give him the benefit any longer & merely hope we win the derby as the bare minimum I would've accepted. Even that wouldn't good enough. It'd be too little, too late.

So I'm afraid that's it from me; he's shot his bolt, and forced me hand

Martinez out.

If Everton don't finish in the top 10 this season then it will be the first time in nearly 15 years that the club have failed to command a position of 10th or higher in consecutive seasons.

I meant home record mate....

We have the 6th worst defensive record overall.....

latest

...his first season saw him inherit a squad that was, for better or worse, well drilled in the art of defending.

Since then he's managed to suck that away entirely to be replaced with occasional bouts of flair and attacking football.

We need the middle ground....and he'll never, EVER attempt to wander into it.

Doesn't change the fact that he knew how to play the players he signed?

Nobody should take that first season away from him. Just as nobody should ignore the form of last season and most of this.

But yeh, I agree, we need more of a balance.

I'm still holding out hope that can be achieved with him here but I'm leaning towards that answer being no. I still want to give him until the end of the season to change our minds, like.

I was thinking this earlier 'How long has it been? etc'.

Then I looked at the fixtures. Again.

And then done a massive GULP.

Grim innit...

Think it will be the first time that the club fail to command a place of 7th or higher in conversation seasons since Moyes took over.

Hahahaha....you're making me pwoppper giggle...you're SO close to falling off the fence and over to the other side.

Let it go...free yourself @BlueToff...the sense of liberation is overwhelming*.

*might be indigestion, not sure.

the thing that irks me is that 'we have had great cup runs' and completely abandoning any retort to league position. I seem to recall him having a great cup run with his previous team, how did that work out for them?
