Roberto Martinez discussion

It's not irrelevant though that's my point.

If you're Lukaku, for example, you'd still rather have RM to work under for 10 games than Unsworth.

I have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt but, reluctantly I have come to the conclusion that he is out of his depth, I have tried to have confidence in him because I absolutely hated the Moyes way of playing and couldn't stand his defeatist attitude, knife to a gunfight etc. However, I believe that Roberto is too stubborn or arrogant or whatever to realise that he is making mistakes, he really has to learn very very quickly or go.
Lukaku has missed one penalty for us...

Though yeh he should have smashed that one down the middle

pick a corner - stick to it - then put your boot through it

we win on Sat = no change
we lose = different ball game. the options become (IMO) soon or later
hard thinking and decision time then.

In fact all over hard thinking and decision time, whatever day you look at it.

Any quick decision WILL mean a care taker and I would back Unsworth

There is absolutely no need for a caretaker manager between now and the end of the season. It wouldn't serve to benefit Everton and would open the door wide open for our best players to angle for a move.

Why create meaningless upheaval with a midseason sacking? If hes not good enough, let him go at the end of the season, hopefully he'd have the decency to resign after another bottom half finish if it came to that.
What we offer to our best players is a place of consistency where they can become even better. Why give them yet another excuse to leave?

Yep. There's an angry crowd energised by negative emotion at the moment though, so there's little point trying to reason.

There needs to be a cautionary tale about expecting an fanbase to manage the club by proxy. Those decisions over a number of years will only be damaging.

End of the season will rightfully be the time decisions will be made. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Martinez given another season too due to all the changes going on. Maybe there's too much disappointment between now and the end of the season so Moshiri will have his first decision to make. I'll trust his judgement but until then demanding the head of the Manager isn't fitting. You can wait a little until May.

Big game coming up this Saturday.

All this "coco" "tactically inept" "clueless clown" and "he's lost the dressing room" is a bit daft. I get the upset, I'm feeling it acutely too. I seethe when I see how open the league is this season and what could have been.

But with the change of ownership I'm happily convinced there's better days soon. With or without Martinez. Time will tell but there's no rush now to symbolically fire him now, that's just very daft thinking.

Neither but I do expect results from the team.
He's the manager and we've underperformed far too long.
Fix the small margins where he and the players have fallen short this season over the remaining games, and we still have a shot at Europe.
We've had performances in abundance this year, but we need results too, and it doesn't need to be pretty football to get them.
Need to genuinely compete for a CL place if we go forward with him, I don't see that as an unrealistic expectation given the time he's been given to develop a team and bring in players.

The margins are that small that if he fails to address them then he rightfully will be jibbed.

We will see, more football to be played than it seems between now and May. We're on a run of 5 wins in 7 games still. Perspective and calm heads will serve us better, but where's the fun in that I suppose?

The small margins are rightly seen as issues with Martinez, if he can't resolve them then he is flawed as a manager IMO.
Defensive solidity from crosses and closing out games.
They've been ongoing issues and we need them resolved if we are to move forward as a team and club.
If he can't then we need to get someone in who can take the foundations of what he's built, fix the small margins and get us winning and into Europe consistently. Giving him to the end of the season to show he can resolve those issues is a reasonable response.

Perspective is looking at an entire duration. A whole season, three seasons or a whole managerial career. 7 games is a snapshot at best. I don't see any evidence of supporters wildly making assertions based on a recent defeat. What I do see, is people looking at his record over a period of time and saying, this isn't good enough.
