Roberto Martinez discussion

The sub was, the result wasn't.

I'd have rather seen Barry come on too but by what do I know and it's easy to say after the event.
It wasn't necessarily a bad substitution (probably was though). However, you, I and everyone else knew that if West Ham scored one then the panic button would be pressed. It even reared its ugly head when Villa got one back midweek. It's alarming.

It pains me to my core mate, despite my best attempts to brush it off.

I am not convinced by the tired argument justifying nutty substitutions.

The squad had just come back from Dubai where they were supposed to have worked on fitness. They had
also had a relatively easy away mid week game. When Lennon came off, the team was coping well defensively and were really dangerous on the break. Lennon especially was playing well, industrious and showing no signs of tiredness and the team structure was denying WHU.

Why change it? And why not make like for like subs? Niasse coming on changed everything. He is new, maybe not match fit, and did not work hard as Lennon had done. It was like watching the WBA game again - bring off your best player and put on a fish out of water. I bet all four defenders had an inward moan when seeing Lennon go off and a new, untested centre-forward come on. That was the real psychological damage.

Finally, I don't know if it has been mentioned but why was Stones playing in midfield with Besic and Barry on the bench?

I used to get headaches trying to understand why DM selected Neville, then why RM selected Howard and now RM's game planning and substitutions.

A lot of assertions there mate.

Stones was playing as part of a back five not in midfield too. Maybe tired perceptions as much as tired arguments.

People over reacting saying worse sub ive ever seen etc.. Clearly weren't there at the Emirates when 1-0 down n Moyes took off Saha for Distin!

Your acting like Martinez brought on Del for Mori n went play Centre back..

The blames lies on whoever you dislike most, clearly you all hate Martinez
The worst sub I've seen was Besic coming on for us against Chelsea, when he made that daft back heel pass.
A total no win situation for Besic that, we were beaten by then and the lad comes on for some game time.
Good job he's a very strong character.
