Roberto Martinez discussion

Unbeleivable Jeff.

"Wearing a mask..." - wtf is that all about?

Nobody has any real idea how RM will fair in the role, just as nobody has any real idea how any manager will fair in any job....unless its made somewhat easier by huge investment. He was the logical appointment given the other apparent contenders....one of whom nobody had really heard of properly and who is now in the ultra-competitive and highly visible Saudi Arabian Premiership.

Ultimately, nobody can do anything about it other than get behind the EVERTON Manager......unless of course its just a bit of pre-emptive positioning in the event that RM doesn't deliver and you can say "I told you so". Its a no-lose situation for the OP because nobody will be arsed to remind him of this thread if RM comes up trumps.

I'm afraid its not the manager that is distinctly not Everton....in this case it's the inference of the original post. If I've misunderstood then you have my apologies up front.

I think it's gona back to mid table footbal. He is an awful manager who's team play suicide football. Some will be happy winning 4-3 every third week but it's not how it's done.

I predict the programmes will be flying on the pitch before bonfire night.

Hope i'm wrong but he has form, and you can only bet on form not hope.

The nucleus at Everton has 1 or 2 seasons left in it at most. It may carry us through to around mid table. After that the only way it can possibly go is backwards.

He was only picked because Bill can control him and get him to say the right things aka Moyes.

Thanks Bill looks like your safe for a few more years yet as most will lap it up.

He can 'live up to' Moyes by getting the average league position he did after being in the job a reasonable period of time. Isn't that what the Moyes FC lovers want - no drop in the standards?

I hold my hands up and admit I don't want our standard to drop.

Honestly, I thought the OP was going to ask who will, at the opening home game of the season, be wearing a Martinez face mask. And I was thinking: maybe that's a little much. I'll stick with my Fellaini wig, unless he leaves of course. Then I'll burn it. Luckily it's more flammable than a shell suit.

On point, I don't know anyone who's masking their feelings. And like almost anything else in life, those who are really, really happy about Martinez seem a bit thick; those who are crying about it are a bit bleak and dreary; and those who are cautiously optimistic or generally sitting on the fence are probably about right. But they all seem to be honest about it.

Nail - On - Head.

and if we win something and are no worse off league wise will you accept that moyes was in fact a media hyped nothing?

No but I will accept that Martinez is in fact even better than Moyes. If however Moyes does terribly at United I will.

Dear Vacancyhub uk,

You're the most eloquent spambot I've ever seen. It thus saddens me that I disagree with everything you spam type.

Love,
Caught

Look at the 'luminaries' of the English game playing in Europe of late: Stoke/Fulham/Newcastle...if you want to put it another way: we failed in our 'fight for Europe' 7 times in 11 seasons under Moyes.

I'm not denying he had a decent go at getting us there, but you're talking utter tripe about European qualification as a rule of thumb for what Martinez achieves or doesn't.

I'm trying. By god I am trying! But no matter how much I want to believe in him, how much I want him to succeed and how much I want to just feel naturally positive about the man, I just can't help but feel very worried and ultimately negative about the appointment of Roberto Martinez as manager of Everton Football Club. I know there's an obvious divide in Everton fans' views and opinions of this issue, but what about the man wearing the mask like me. The man who's putting a smile on and forcing himself to look and "feel" excited about Martinez, but deep down knows that something just doesn't fit. I know I'm not the only one wearing that mask of jubilance covering a face of concern, worry and gloominess. Having watched the full appointment of Martinez press conference on YouTube, I think it's blatantly obvious that Kenwright is wearing that mask too. Some say this is a time of promise and future glory, with the players we have, the football Martinez' teams play and the fact that we're taking on a manager who won what Moyesey never could (a trophy!), and I'm happy for those people. Others say this is a huge mistake, with a manager that's never progressed a bottom five team which was finishing higher in the league before he took over and now under his reign got relegated, and I'm happy for those people too. At least you openly know where you stand. But those of you wearing the mask of delight covering up a deep down despair, put your hand up and make yourself known, because I know there's more than just me and Blue Bill.

Last week I saw 2 blokes kissing in the park, until now, that was the gayest thing I had ever really encountered.

I am really struggling to deal with these melodramatic analytics of how Martinez might perform.

Let's just see how he does, then voice our concerns or joy.

We are safe in the knowledge that
a. He is taking over a very decent team.
b. He is well thought of, comes across as sincere and knowledgeable and was previously sought after by other clubs.
3. He had the tactical nous to outfox a team that grossly outspent his own team on international superstars in order lift a piece of silverware.

Just get behind him, see what occurs and then report back with your findings.

Even after selecting your own username? Hah! I jest!

Seriously though, which park?

The double standards is amazing moyes has done nothing at the club yet martinez is hyped up for "building the great foundations at swansea" success in football isnt down to just cups if you asked me a cup and relegation or no cup and top 6 (which we would have had europa had swansea/wigan not won the cups) I would certainly choose the latter

Put it into perspective would our cup win in 95 be as talked about had royle took us down that year?

Wake up!
