Roberto Martinez discussion

Or maybe he had money from the previous season sales

Not sure how the deal for lukaku panned out
But a lot of rumours saying 3yr instalments so we could have paid only 8mil upfront?

If you remember the moutinho summer when it dragged on for 2months
The rumours going around was his club wanted a big chunk of the fee upfront
In the end we got Felliani as his club where happy to be paid a smaller fee upfront and paid over 3/4yrs

It could be a load of boll-ocks but just remember reading it on the forums at the time

The money should've been there anyway from the Fellaini sale yeah, but it seemed the board still needed pushing to complete the deal. At the presser Martinez and Rom both kept thanking the board for "allowing the deal to happen".

Why the board need thanking for reinvesting player sales is beyond me.

Bit depressing that he had to spend the first 5-10 minutes talking about injuries, the season hasn't even started yet FFS. We really can't afford a bad season, injury wise, with this squad, just doesn't have the depth.

Moyes got us to 5th and an FA cup final with bascially no fit strikers for almost an entire season. No excuses :)

If we'd got Moutinho instead of Fellaini we'd have got top 4 that season, and maybe even won the cup. Would've made such a difference.

Theres nothing technical about having no money to spend...try it yourself - go to the shops and load up with gear and then tell the owners you have no money to pay for it.
So just so I know where you're coming from. You're saying we have no money and someone will have to go to fund this summers late business. If that turns out to be true then fair play mate. Although if we do spend 15 million plus without selling anyone, will you then question Martinez' strategy, inc leaving us with no experienced CB cover and Kone as a back up Striker.

Yes. Defo.

Sadly that wont happen.

I can't help feel really happy today, I think Bobby is building something special for the future for us. If Stones stays we have a spine of Stones, McCarthy, Barkely, Lukaku all young and on long terms deals. We have Coleman, Delboy, and Cleverly as well. The money he is spending to getting a few top youngesters into the youth team, the future is bright. Patience is what is needed

If we sell to that lot now after Roberto's comments today re tapping up, then we really have no spine or credibility as an organisation.

Going into the season without our main striker or a capable replacement is a disgrace. That falls not only on the board's head but the manager's as well.
Nothing shocks me anymore with how this club is being run.

No money?
Looks like Stones will be off, despite more fluff the past month.
Total amateur station. Laughable.

Oh pack it in FFS! He has had all summer to sort this out.

He doesn't want to spend all the money on a striker. The majority is on a playmaker. One game- I'll take it if it means he strengthens the squad by the City game. Also people seem to have forgotten Naismith is a striker as well.
