No excuses. At home v Warford, who are starting 6 debutants. Give me a break. Any manager worth his salt, who's had three yrs to work with this squad, should be taking 3pts. An easy, easy three points.

How would you make your tactics against a couple of players who've never played together before? It's opening day to a newly promoted team, wait till the City game to judge him.
 
This is just as applicable here or in any thread. Todays oppo were an unknown quantity and both sides are on the road to pro levels of fitness (pre season aint no thang compared to the blood and bluster of real matches) they were playing their opening prem game and were always going to be full of enthusiasm and lets face it first game away cant have been expecting much. Theyll give a few sides a game because of their running on the flanks and against the expected bottom 6 or 7 will get there share of points.
So far as the thin Catalan duke goes he changed it up and went looking for the goals to win it from behind. He knows as much as anyone how we need additions to cope with the league season - Cleverly is a heck of a signing for a freebie and as the entire squad gets up to speed for fitness a lot of the sloppiness and legginess will be made a memory.
IF he is allowed to spend big again its a sign the club/board are on his ship for the grand voyage - if its bargain bucket last minute deals for a handful of change and an old copy of razzle then maybe the faith isnt there from above in the long term.

Push has come to shove - make your move and show your cards. Or not.
 

Its virtually the same squad that underperformed so badly last season, so no surprises today,,,,it is essential we buy a couple of decent players starting with C Austin
 
Thought the way we set up for the game tactically was disgraceful today. Recovered when Watford dropped deeper in the second half and showed a bit of grit, but that first half was outright embarrassing given it was the first game of the season at home.

The man has not evolved his strategy at all and keeps making the same mistakes over and over again.

This was a gimme. Watford were starting the season with a new coach and 6 new starters.

Tears! You do realise Martinez gets paid Millions of dollars to work that stuff out. I'm outta here.
 
Play was too slow, too much passing across the back giving them time to get in position. It's the managers fault he picks the team, formation. Pre season was a waste of time because it was exactly same team, formation and tactics as last season. He's paid big money and took the responsibility of managing us so as with any team its down to him. Its no different to last year so if someone's under performing then he should have been replaced.
