The thing is, he's always animated pitchside, so I dont see what more he has to do on that score. It's not like he's a passionless observer of the game.

The overall point being made though is that being furious in public is somehow equated with being a good a manager and shows they 'get it'.

It's ridiculous. But apparently it brings respect.

Occasionally if the players are playing gash and doing stupid things they need a rocket up their backsides.

People somehow thought Martinez was all phenomenal and incredible.

When in actual fact he can do phenomenal rockets to players playing gash which are incredible too

There's also a perception, whether correct or not, that a team's character is a reflection of it's manager's personality. There are untold examples of this down the years. Now, Roberto is probably the nicest manager in the PL and it would seem very difficult to imagine anyone disliking him, even fans of opposition clubs

We did almost win the fair play award. Although Allerdyce being the coach that won it kinda scuppers your theory.

Comments like this are mad. Global superstar off the back of playing well against Barnsley? The hyperbole of football fans never ceases to amaze.
I'm a huge fan of Deulofeu. But looking world class against rubbish opposition is what he does. He needs to do it week in week out in the premiership. I also hope we don't go into the season relying on him either and we shouldn't expect him to "save" our season.

Martinez really should have offered all the money Kiev wanted and put a deadline on it and if they said no settled for Shaqiri. I understand why he didn't want to give up on Yarmolenko but it has left us pretty shafted. He did the same thing with Nolito last year.

We should be relying on all our first team squad. That's what they are there for.

Anything more than a loan for Shaq would be quite mental at that price.

We're not shafted, we have a very good young English player who looks to be building a great partnership with our CF. He can have a great season this year in that role.

Still be nice to have another option at ACM.

Getting back to Roberto. ‘We have a Chairman who will do the right thing for the club and for the team and, as a true Evertonian, we are clear he will not be easily influenced in taking the money and accepting things which will clearly make our team weaker.’ - GREAT. Called him out perfectly

Really? I thought Shaqiri was a very good price. I doubt we will get anyone better for 12m. From what I can see we have the option at that price of someone like Iturbe another failed starlet who would be a big risk. Someone like Lennon at around 6m or someone like De Guzman on loan. I'm not really excited by any of them.

As others have said we are one injury away from playing the likes of Naismtih, McGeady or Kone plus I also think Barkley's best position is further back.

Agree his best position might be further back. Think he's bounced around too many clubs to warrant a large transfer fee, only time will tell. Can see him leaving Stoke in 18 months for 6m. I'd go all out for Yarma, think his attitude is spot on.

By all out, I'd offer him (up to) a £10m singing on fee in Jan to sign a pre contract.
