I'll hold you to that, Bobby!
.

In defense of Moyes, there were times when we played some good football.

That being said, we play the "big" teams now with an eye to take it to them, which is nice to see. We were very unlucky to lose against Chelsea and Spurs I thought. If we'd had a recognised striker in those games, we could have got a point or even won

Defensively, I still think we need work. We conceeded quite a lot last season to be fair, so it's not like we've gone form being great at the back to suddenly awful. We've had a number of clean sheets but we've also tended to switch off at the back sometimes. We seemed to have a bit more concentration under Moyes when it came to defending but then we were also less aggressive up front.

There are plusses and minuses to both styles. That being said, I'd rather us take it to a team and lose then sit back against a team and lose

We have the second best defensive record in the PL, only Chelsea has a better record.

It's not how many you let in, it's WHEN you let them in that counts

I dont know about that. Concede just 27 goals (a goal per game) and that is very, very impressive for a team in this league. We've played all but Arsenal and City out of the big guns twice already, so I dont expect that ratio to go any higher.

I suppose it's the flip side of the discussion the other day of playing two CMs like Barry and McCarthy.

While our players are still good defenders, I do sometimes think that having a more attacking philosophy can leave them open to be exploited in ways which didn't happen when we were more defensive minded

That being said, we used to equally as shakey at the back under Moyes and would still be happy to attack. The game with SOuthampton where we won 3-1 is a good example of that

We went 1-0 down to a set piece and ended up stringing a beautiful collection of passes together before getting ourselves back in it. We then parked the bus in the second half and The Saints had no answer for it. That match was Moyes in a nut shell to me. It encapsulated all the positives and all the negatives about him

Our record away vs the top 5 teams is actually worse this season that last, like.

Add to the fact that Everton are playing well away this season (despite not taking many points), no top team has yet been great away. City has a lot of away matches remaining, so will be interesting to see their run.

Away to Top-7
Arsenal 0 - 0 - 3
Chelsea 0 - 2 - 3
Everton 1 - 1 - 4
Liverpool 1 - 1 - 3
Man City 1 - 0 - 1
Man Utd 0 - 2 - 2
Tottenham 0 - 1 - 2

Done that every game have we?
Barring maybe one that I can think of when we went 3 at the back and played with 8 defensive minded players.. yes.
Howard, Baines, Jags, Distin, Coleman, McCarthy and Barry... That's the standard setup we play isn't it?
