Roberto Martinez discussion

I think we've been quite hit and miss this season. I didn't think we deserved to win yesterday.

I'd hoped he be the manager to take it to the [Poor language removed]

There's no better place in English football for a talented young footballer to be right now than Everton and we have example after example from recent years and present day to back that statement up. I put that entirely down to Martinez' "bravery" in trusting his young players in literally any type of game environment and his investment in the youth set-up.

He's has made some pretty radical and hugely positive changes in a short tenure here. Some (usually in the media) will look (especially last season) to explain away his early achievements by pointing to the strong foundations left by his predecessor, but he hasn't piggy-backed on anything imo. Rather, he's been astute and humble enough not to scrap a lot of the good work Moyes left for him and has improved on a lot of what he did badly.

Still has to win a derby though. They're certainly one thing he's not done well so far.

I`m still not convinced by him though, to be fair, he does seem to have toned down last seasons Comical Ali turd polishing post match routine.

In every game I see some things that are truly horrible and some things that are truly brillian. He really is an enigma, but the spirit in the side seems to be back this season, we're not losing again, you'll go far if you keep on long unbeaten runs.

You will never be convinced by him.

Sad really
You may well be right. However, supporters aren`t stupid and they know when they`ve just watched 90 mins of utter arse. Im all for the manager sticking up for the players and trying to put a positive spin on things but standing there telling us that some of the dross served up last season was "phenomenal" didn`t help anyone.

You think Sunday was utter arse, I thought it was a typical hard fought Derby game.
The difference we tried to be positive and the subs reinforced that

I am not sure what you want from the team and the Manager

I have voted with my wallet, and have NOT got a season ticket for next season.
I had a crappy seat anyway,so if it all starts well I will renew after maybe 10 or 12 games.
In the mean time I will go in the Bullens Road and see how the other half live.

We're eight games in now mate. Like many of us at the end of last season you were plainly a bit disillusioned, I'm just curious as to whether or not the start to our season has won you round at all ?

Im sorry if i`ve given the wrong impression. Im not talking about Sunday at all, im refering to last season as a whole.

Last season was poor but I think it was made worse as we all felt we were destined for great things due to a really positive season. RM made mistakes and I think he knows that, but I think we can all see he is trying to rectify them and I believe he has sacrificed some of his footballing principles.
I don't think this season has been anywhere near the level of season 1, but we have had a great start when you take the run of games plus the injuries we have(I think 7 players out)

My belief in RM is he is trying to build for the future, we are seeing this with younger players being given a chance and also our transfer policy.
I have said before people need to be patient and need to believe and understand what is he trying to achieve.
As for the press conferences, he loves an audience, but rather this than the dour outlook of DM
If honest I rarely listen to the after match conferences
