Dave, we got knocked out the Carling Cup by quite possibly the worst Fulham side in their history.

I'd say the football isn't too dissimilar from what Moyes served up when things were okay. The problem we had under him was the style dropped to desperate levels when a couple of injuries kicked in. I don't think that'll happen under Martinez and we'll be a lot more consistent in that respect.
Possession has improved, but style? Overall?
Been a few dour games this season where we've controlled possession to no or not much end product.
Played some great stuff last season too, which some people are forgetting.
As @Artetafan said, too early to call him an upgrade.
If that was Moyes who lost to Fulham he would have got roared at.
Well so far we have beaten 1 team all season that we shouldnt have, Chelsea at Home.
Yeah we've been poor vs the teams above us in the league this year. (Man U don't count, false position, palace at home is a gimme for a point at least.)
Hopefully we can right that wrong when city and the arse come to goodison.
You seem to be forgetting the obvious. We have battled with the top teams toe to toe instead of playing a defensive hope to nick a goal style of play. Don't forget we have now discarded the knife and gone to play these with a gun albeit a smaller gun than theres.Well so far we have beaten 1 team all season that we shouldnt have, Chelsea at Home.
I dont know. That was a big monkey to get off our backs.
Chelsea home and United away, and the way we handled Arsenal in the league game away were breakthrough performances.
That's the one blight on Martinez's record for me; the one that cant be argued away. First season moulding another manager's players and getting the standard generally reached, though, has been an achievement. I think if we look back on the thread before the season where we all stated what would be ok/good/excellent I think we'd have all accepted this scenario.Dave, we got knocked out the Carling Cup by quite possibly the worst Fulham side in their history.
The Chelsea home game was huge for martinez. We hadn't won a league game at that point, people were turning on him in the ground and we turned up, gave a proper everton performance and left elated.
Likewise the old trafford game was when we first started believing something special was happening.
Same with the goodison debry, actually, even though we didn't win we played so well it felt like a sea change.
In terms of breakthrough performances for Everton and not Martinez though, I'm not convinced any them was anything special. Last year we beat spurs, city and utd at home. I expect that from us at home, tbh. And the man u game has lost a lot in hindsight given that this season an under 5s team could go to old trafford and win

What would be your reaction be if we got to 68-70 points this season?
