Roberto Martinez discussion

That's it in a nutshell mate. The same youth and inexperience makes us bloody exciting to watch, but the second half today is the other side of the coin.
This is why Martinez is so much better than Moyes. He brings out the potential in players like Barkley, Lukaku, Stones, Galloway and Gerry. He just can't motivate his players for crap; he is the Dimitar Berbatov of coaches. Sexy as hell to watch, but way too laid back.

So it was the ref. Lolz at the desperation. He didn't add 3 extra minutes. He added about 25 secs. After they kicked off they scored less than a minute later, the fact the clock was running after Barkley scored, during the pitch invasion is irrelevant. This result belongs to Bobby and i hope he and his lovers can be man enough to admit it.
That last goal is all on the players, the second half in general though the blame possibly lies with martinez as tactics completely changed. We were brilliant in the first half and then just sat back and invited them back into the game.

So frustrating.

Overconfidence and, if we're honest, arrogance in believing we could sit back and Bournemouth cost us today. Excrement happens sometimes though.

It'll all be forgiven if we beat Boro on Tuesday though.
They possibly had Boro in mind trying to game manage this at 2 up.

Oh well.

That's football.

Not every game. Like I said towards the end of our winter argument last year, I was prepared to give him to Christmas this year.

I haven't mentioned anything negative about him today, or any other time this season (Watford apart). I even posted positive after the arsenal and west hame game when others weren't happy.
...and from what you've seen this season it's all going pretty well, wouldn't you say?

Dread to think what he said to them at half time. They didn't turn up in the second half. Hope he gave them an absolute rollicking at full time, and uses the 'remember the Bournemouth game' speech if we're ever 2-0 up at half time again.

Our players thought we have won the game at 79 mins. Half of them were lazy and can't be arsed to put pressure/chasing the loose ball.

At no point did I say that. You've just lost the plot over nothing.

I haven't lost the plot. I'm expressing frustration about this never ending facade that leads to people (including myself) believing that our team is something beyond mid-table also-rans. We have some good players, but we need far better than the likes of Gibson an Cleverley if we want to move beyond mid-table, that's just reality. It may also be reality to say things like we will not progress beyond mid-table without investment, but that doesn't stop the celebration of 7th placed finishes and losing League Cup Semi-Finals any more distressing. Its groundhog day.

We've had that a few times this season, one good 45min performance and one poor one, we've just varied it as to which half we forgot to get out of the dressing room!

Perhaps explained in part by a young side but something we definitely need to work on.

One thing we do seem to have worked on is our attacking corners, they were generally good today! Now just for the defensive ones....

We started that second half 20 yards back from where we were first half and isolated Lukaku, hoping we could hit them on the break. A deliberate management decision at half time from what I saw. Hand over the initiative and be prepared to have your backside gnawed at.

It probably was mate. You can see the logic, sit back, hit them on the break and score a third to kill it off.

Sadly we tried to do too much with one pass, which, on a windy day, wasn't too bright.

Bit of a reality check as much as anything.
I am fuming though.

Yes, like night and day. And like I said last year I'd rather swallow my pride than see Everton suffer.

And what I said about being direct last season is being implemented this, that first time ball cutting through the defence rather than fannying about with it

I came on tonight to reply to prevenger, and for some reason people seem to think it's to have a go at martinez; haven't mentioned him once
