well done bill... missed out on the best opportunity to advance the club and allowed himself to be bullied by wigan into rushing... anyone who thinks that we are above a relagation battle next year needs to have a good look at newcastle to see what difference a year makes, and we don't have a way to buy ourselves out of it like they did

Newcastle bought a load of players in who took people by surprise then where found out and didn't have the bottle for it. No similarity to us and no chance of anything other than a top 7 finish. lets face it we finished sixth with a misfiring forward, a load of injuries, a load of bad luck and a manager with other things on his mind.

All the debating about Managerial appointments have to end now. Martinez has been chosen (near enough) and that's an end of it.

Since when did Everton Football Club become the same as teams like Chelsea, Man City and more recently, Stoke, by going against their manager from day one.

I for one was one of the people wanting to see Perreira appointed, but we have to trust in our chairman until we have reason not to trust.

"Nil Satis Nisi Optimum" should be a phrase that applies to the fans just as much as the players and staff. We pride ourselves on being the best fans in England. Now lets show some class by going against the grain and supporting our new Manager.

I just cant get excited about Martinez. Whether I'm bitter or twisted I just can't get the relegation monkey out of my head. I'm going to try and avoid any footy chat for a while so I can deal with this in my own special way.....!

Jesus lads, you would all think we have just come out of our most successful period, and appointed a bum. We haven't won a trophy for 18 years, the great David Moyes managed us through the only decade in history that Everton didn't win a trophy. This is not the gamble people are making it out to be, we may have been comfortable top 8 but we were going nowhere . I would rather have a go at the top 4 and finish 12th then finish 6th and don't.

Come on you Blues

I agree with all that.

Meh. Fingers crossed our defence are so well-drilled already that we don't suddenly go to pot.

Possible positives:

*I've always thought that the wing back system would be perfect for us and Moyes only toyed with it for one game.
*Hopefully he'll bring McManaman with him and I've come round to McCarthy (although definitely not for the reported £15m).
*Figueroa, Alcaraz and Boyce wouldn't be bad squad players on bosmans I suppose.
*We did play some good football at times under Moyes but it seemed like it was because we had good players rather than because the manager coached it. Hopefully we'll be more fluent under Martinez.

Martinez doesn't have a brilliant record with youth but that could partly be down to their academy. They cite McManaman (joined them at 18 from Everton), Jordan Mustoe (b. Birkenhead, 0 first team appearances), Daniel Redmond (b. Liverpool, 0 first team apparances) and Lee Nicholls (b. Huyton, 0 first team appearances) as the best that their youth setup has to offer.

I hope that Martinez really is a "tactical genius" and that the odds against him were just too great at Wigan. If not, we could be in trouble.

Hope not but in frank, that is likely to happen.

Moyes said he wouldn't like to see this team get broken up, so we will see how quick he turns against us. Martinez will need to be strong. Gibson interview was a bit depressing. Gibson does think that David Moyes will return to Everton to poach a few players, but he’s not sure who, and says that he doesn’t think he’ll be making a return to Old Trafford in the near future.
I don’t think I’ll be going back, but we’ll see what happens,” stated Gibson.
“He might take a few players with him but to be honest with you I don’t have a clue who he’ll take.
“I thought the season went well, obviously I was injury at the early part of the season, but the games I did play in I played well enough and I was happy with that.”
