Would like to see him make a run at N'Zogbia. Taking talented players who have for one reason or another aren't doing at their respected clubs and making them better is what we do well here (Pinnear, Arteta, Donovan etc). N'Zogbia is defo more talented than McManahan IMO and will probably command a low transfer fee so that Villa can get him off the books. Plus N'Zogbia is faster and brings something that our side sorely lacks. Martinez has been the only manager who has gotten the best of him. N'Zogiba with Mirallas behind the striker and hopefully a reborn Jela (who was starting to at least get balls on target after Moyes stopped sending him out wide) and we could have a good strike force there.

Martinez is the guy I've always wanted. He's not a punchable arrogant turd. He's gotten no-names, some of whom are from Scotland too to play some decent stuff. You look at the players we have, and it appears to me that his system fits our squad well. We have a strong CB package (arguably the biggest weakness of his wigan teams). Osman's game is similar to Maloneys and even though he is 31 could probably get better given that there isn't that many miles on him. Jela is probably a better CF than Kone (who I really like) if he gets his confidence back.

N'Zogbia is badly gash and so is Maloney. I am coming to peace with Martinez as our new manager but I do not want a single Wigan player to come too

Finally, someone making some frigging sense. This thread was making thoroughly depressing reading.

I'm still convinced that the majority of evertonians will back the new coach with as much faith as he deserves. Lets at least give the guy a chance FFS.

Whelan should wind his neck the big mouthed GobS***e, I sincerely hope he hasn't tried to F*** us over with breaking this story, bill should hang em out to dry now and make Wigan beg us to take him off them, what a clueless, uneducated T**t is Whelan really is!!

Absolutely this!

Don't get me wrong, I would love us to push on and gain a champions league place. But to do that you need investment. The top 4 from this year are all going to spend big. Martinez is coming to a top 6 team, but there is undoubtedly going to be a period of transition, also we might lose some of our better players (Felliani and Baines) which would have hindered moyes in his attempts to get us into Europe, let alone a new manager to the club. I am only being realistic, I am not settling for second best although sadly I think kenwright has with this appointment.

We all have to wait and see what the new managers ideas are.
We need to be patient and give him time to get things as he wants. To demand top 4 or top 7 finishes is ridiculous and puts too much pressure on him from the word go. Patience and full backing required!

I have to repeat what Mickers said yesterday, I thought it was extremely well put

"Then Roberto- a nice guy who has a touch of class about him- as gracious in victory as he is in defeat- someone you would be proud to represent our famous club. He completely changed the way Wigan played football, had to shop in the bargain basement and forced to sell his best player every year. An argument of style over substance has plagued him but never the less maybe a style that Evertonians have been longing for.

I have come round to the idea of the manager that turned them over the road down. He has my full support and I hope with one or two signings in the summer we will see a mix of style and youth coming through in what will be a transitional period.

Welcome Bob."

There will be long road ahead, ups n downs, but I believe Roberto is the man for Everton.

Well Dave I broke my leg at Wembley just couldn't help himself, and dived in,and Bill is not happy about it
And said there is no deal done yet,but it looks nailed on to me,suppose we can live in hope
Never know it could all go belly up.,

Anyone who is expecting us to progress is kidding themselves, the problem was never Moyes it was Kenwright and his team of kopites.

NO MANAGER in the world could take Everton forward under the current board and finances, the best we can hope for is a Cup win.

...why do many of the polls on here not provide the right options. Martinez was always my preference as the best candidate but I really don't know if he'll be better than moyes. Not sure what MEH means, but I haven't voted as no - 'Good hire, no better available'.

N'Zogbia is badly gash and so is Maloney. I am coming to peace with Martinez as our new manager but I do not want a single Wigan player to come too

Maloney is definitely not gash he's a very good player who Martinez has got the best from. At 30 his age would be against him joining us though.

Maloney is a real talented player, i dont think he would imporve our best eleven ahead of Pienaar but if cheap enough would be a good option from the bench.

He is also the best free kick taker in the country.

He's a lad old Dave broke my leg,I just knew it would be him,to be the one to break cover first
Just shut it Dave, digging yourself into a hole again.

from the express ..
"A final round of talks with Kenwright will now include which members of his backroom staff Martinez wants to bring with him from Wigan – with assistant Graeme Jones, goalkeeping coach Inaki Bergara, chief scout Kevin Reeves and fitness coach Richard Evans all having been tipped to make the move."

if true , as i feared , thats one low grade backroom staff.

Absolutely - who are these people?! I've never heard of them, so certainly not good enough for Eberton. What happened to NSNO?!

My personal choice of goalkeeping coach is Michael Bolton - massively famous, and look how big he makes himself.
