The list of the top 40 highest paid managers in Europe has been posted several times over the last couple weeks. Moyes was something like 17th on £3.2m pa, Bielsa was something like 37th on £1.5m pa IIRC. Pereira and Girard weren't even on it. There is no evidence to suggest that they would cost more than Martinez, but there is evidence to state categorically that they wouldn't cost us £2m in compensation.

For some reason I can't edit the above. I just double checked:

Moyes was 16th, on £2.9m.
Bielsa was 28th, on £2m.

Martinez, Girard and Pereira not listed.

I'm neutral about this appointment. It seems there were not a lot of options around. Perhaps we were unlucky with timing but he's probably the best of a small bunch.

My main concern is that he will break up the current squad because he wants to put his own stamp on it. Normally that makes sense when a manager comes into a struggling side. But we have our best 11 for decades at the moment. Just add world class centre forward Roberto.

The other concern is that he must snap out of a small club mentality. The Rodgers signing Allen and borini thing. Boss players for a lower prem team but not top 6 material.

Didn't want RM in the first place I think it's a terrible appointment, for me he's cv doesn't warrant a job at Everton, like all blues I hope he succeeds, and I'll give him my full support, but there's nothing that convinces me that he will be success.

To be fair mate did David moyes cv all years ago warrant everton fc

All these minus rep points because others don't like my opinion...Jeez I thought it was a forum.

All Vitor jokes aside. If Bobby is the boss I am 100% behind him and hope he does well, 100% behind the players. But disgusted with Bill. I hope he finds a buyer and clears off, though I doubt he ever will. Will never trust that gimp again.

I would still like Vitor, but I know Bobby will be signed up very soon. Just think we have missed an opportunity here. If we buy a foreign player, then will we say no way, he has never played in the prem? just a thought.

Bobbies Army it is.

There's been 15 pages since me going to bed last night and logging on this morning. Would anyone be kind enough to give me a cliff notes version of what's happened in the thread since then?

I'd be most obliged

* People not arsed about Martinez.
* People pretending to be happy about Martinez
* Dave Whelen being a publicity seeking anustart as per usual.
* Argument about Moyes' wages.
* No white smoke yet.

Don't think Davek says Moyes is useless at all, could you quote that bit please? He (like others) just think he is vastly over paid.

Understand that mate but if moyes earned 3m a year at everton and Martinez comes in and earns 1m a year but finishes 2 or more places lower than moyes then that's where we lose out and that's why I think moyes was never ever underpaid however I'm looking forward to seeing what Martinez is going to bring to the table

Martinez is bringing in 4 or 5 staff to replace those we lost to Man U, as would any incoming appointee. These replacements would cost money regardless of which manager we appointed.

In summary, Martinez will definitely cost compensation plus wages. That will add up to more than the wages for an out-of-contract candidate, unless the likes of Pereira were demanding MORE than Moyes was being paid. Which is unlikely.

Those coaches had their wages "depressed" in relation to Moyes because they were/are managers of clubs with less revenue - that's why they tend to gravitate toward the PL because the ratio of their wages to turnover makes them more money. They'd have demanded whatever terms they were on in that respect at Everton. I dont know what Martinez (if he comes in) will receive; but I believe he'll be told that Moyes was pulling in his salary only after half a decade or so of proving he could keep Everton safely tucked away in the PL top half. I doubt Martinez will be stepping into £3M+ per season. There will be savings here for our board, no question.

If we finish 2 places lower, that's 2million less in prize money, that would have been paid to Moyes's wage. So we didn't lose anything financially :P

Six Days ago, the press were saying we would appoint our new manager within 48 hours; five days ago, 48 hours, 4 days ago...48 hours...

They are eventually going to get it right...right?
