Up in the rarified atmosphere of Camp ManU where most of the trophies all reside there's an air of expectation about where the next killing is coming from. A few of the bigger lions in the Premier League pride occasionally get to eat at the top table and steal a portion of the trophy haul. ManCy Lion (who lives nearby), Chavski Lion with its fat Russian rump and dear old L'Arsenal (although that particular old lion hasn't been too well fed lately) and even sad old Anfield Lion gets an occasional hand on a lump of silver..

Meanwhile brave old Everton lion keeps approaching the trophy room with trepidation - frightened that one of the big old lions will bite his hand off whenever the smell of silver is in the air...

and yet, somewhere down the bottom of the pile there sits a brave little lion - one with only one leg.. but brave enough to steal in under the noses of the big boys and nick a bit of silver..

So, the moral of the story is: Stop worrying about the fact that Bobby is a little mouse - he likes the taste of silver.

(yeah ok, it's a bit trite but you get the point)
I thinks its great. Am gonna read it to my kids at bedtime

...as posted on the other thread, I'm delighted with this development and sincerely hope that like the Mounties, Bill gets his man.
Even without additiional funds, there is clearly going to be a significant salary saving with Moyes departure along with most of his backroom staff, not to mention Neville and potentially Heitinga. If Martinez moves quickly to secure a couple of exciting new signings then I'm sure the doubters will soon be onside. Also, I wouldn't assume that he will play the same formation at the Blues. Systems often relate to players available and I doubt he will want 3 at the back at Everton.

Absolutely this.

He hasn't resigned though,he's informed Whelan of his desire to leave which Whelan has granted,Kenwright has requested permission to speak to Martinez.
That's how I read it ,could be wrong though.

One thing Martinez will bring with him is various formations. He played 3-5-2 at Wigan, and if ever a side was set up to play it (Baines and Coleman) it's us. We're already defensively sound, we need someone to take the fear out of our game when we go forward. I'm all for it.

Agree and that's show how good Moyes is.

You've actually made that bit up. How do you know ?

You are perfectly right.

I have inferred it from all the speculation of the last couple of weeks.

I admit I don't have any knowledge or proof so I could be wrong but Martinez surely can't be the best a club of our stature can attract.

I don't want a manager to maintain what we have achieved under Moyes. I want a manager to take us further.

We've all seen the games this season. There were at least half a dozen games we should have won and didn't. Many more than games where we got a result when we were lucky.

I hope whoever is interviewed or has been interviewed put that point across.

If it's the old "Everton punching above their weight" argument, it doesn't wash with me.
That group of players should have and can do better.

The one positive I would take from taking on Martinez is his eye for bargains from South and Central America.

We are a finisher and perhaps a playmaker away from a top 4 place. I hope he has the answers if he is appointed.

Whatever happens, I can't wait for the new season to start.
