I wonder if in January Stones was signed for Martinez?
crazy I know but he was wanted by Wigan, signed for us and then never played.
Moyes for me was already on his way before the January window closed. Martinez seemed to give a wry smile when we drew them in the cup. Rumours where rife then about him taking over here then.

I just hope that If/when he signs he moves to bring Mcmanaman here and maybe McCarthy too. I would like to think that perhaps Fellaini might give us till January to see how things settle but that is probably a pipe dream.

Martinez hasn't been offered the job yet, they want to interview him this week then a couple more next week who are still contracted to there clubs.neville, weir, stubbs were interviewed early last week and vitor pereira was interviewed friday according to skysportsnews.

£2mill for the final 12 months of his contract with the Wiganers. Shame they dont have any decent CB's because they could let us have whoever and they can resign Titus 'The Titan' Bramble for the Championship relegation fight.

Agree with the unexciting nature of this (probable) appointment. But then, since Catterick went, the only two new managers I've been excited about, at the time they were appointed, were Mike Walker and Walter Smith, so it just goes to show that premature excitement doesn't always lead to satisfaction.

I have been thinking exactly the same thing. Been dredging the memory for an "Exciting" new manager, and even with blue tinted specs on, I arrived at that exact same conclusion.

Before people started talking about Pereira, most people in here wanted Martinez. Now he suddenly isnt the flavour of the month longer and most people are disapointed if we get him.

Mr Martinez please come and show some of these poor Everton and Moyes fans of the last 11 years what silverware looks like -
they have become so used to mediocrity that anything else scares the living daylights out of them -
you can bring Kone to show Jelavic where the net is -
you can bring McManaman because Everton does not even have a right wing (and Moyes released him )-
you can bring Maloney/Espinoza to help the faltering Pienaar and Osman -
but above all get yourself here as soon as possible and tell Red Moyes to get on his United bicycle and go where he belongs -
Hope to see you soon

You are perfectly right.

I have inferred it from all the speculation of the last couple of weeks.

I admit I don't have any knowledge or proof so I could be wrong but Martinez surely can't be the best a club of our stature can attract.

I don't want a manager to maintain what we have achieved under Moyes. I want a manager to take us further.

We've all seen the games this season. There were at least half a dozen games we should have won and didn't. Many more than games where we got a result when we were lucky.

I hope whoever is interviewed or has been interviewed put that point across.

If it's the old "Everton punching above their weight" argument, it doesn't wash with me.
That group of players should have and can do better.

The one positive I would take from taking on Martinez is his eye for bargains from South and Central America.

We are a finisher and perhaps a playmaker away from a top 4 place. I hope he has the answers if he is appointed.

Whatever happens, I can't wait for the new season to start.

What is all of this crap. We appointed Howard Kendall, who was not a world class manager, who oversaw our best period of success and also appointed Joe Royle, again not a world class manager, who won us the FA cup. what is this rubbish about not being good enough, our best managers have been Everton through and through, not Spanish or German 'World beaters'........

More "under contract managers" to be interviewed next week according to SSN. Wouldn't it be funny after resigning from Wigan that we went and appointed someone else

When we go to the Pit have the lads really up for it and don't F++++n choke like the fella you have taken
Over from, that's the way to become one of us.
