I'll come back to all this a bit later, when I've time, but just for now....you reckon City were 'close' to winning the title this year? Coming second isn't 'close' if you're umpteen points behind the winner! If a horse is second but 25 lengths behind the winner, you reckon thats 'close' ??

Apparantly so.

Yeah. Crap getting a manager who's just won league titles. I'd hate that.

Grief

Yea, why would we want a championship winner who's lost 1 game in two years, when we can have a guy who has been relegated two months ago? Remember though he won an FA Cup, beating sides such as Huddersfield, Millwall and a City side who's manager was about to be sacked en route!

This logic makes no sense. It basically legitimises failure. Clearly finishing 5th,financially and in terms of skills is a lot better than finishing 17th.
You should want to do as well as you can, in all competitions. Not complete disguard the league, aim to finish abovethe 3 promoted teams and try and fluke a trophy. Finishing below the likes of Stoke is a failure in itself.

Which is a perfectly legitimate argument if there was no skill involved in winning trophies and it was purely a matter of luck.

But much like england have been happily proving how little luck there is in penalty shootouts, Moyes has been proving how little luck there is in winning cups.

I must have been watching Everton Chile if we were challenging for 4th for the past few years. I remember 2011/12 we were worrying about relegation up until December.

No arguement from me on that count, I know where and when it was lost, but IF we got different results, it could have been different, we certainly had a chance, maybe not a realistic, but it was still possible.

I agree but all I'm saying is in the end, we weren't close, in my eyes anyway.

I still dont think we had a bad season, 4th this year we would of over achieved, we had hope but in the end the other teams just had more than us.

Klopp got relegated with Mainz. Would you take Pereira over Klopp ?

Its fair to say that Everton is more attractive to a certain level of player than Wigan wouldnt you agree? And on that basis, I see no reason why he would rely on his Wigan scouting network. If you came into a few bob, and were able to upgrade your Hyundai to a Masserati it's unlikely that you'd continue to let Mick the Oil from down the pub continue to tinker under the bonnet and do your annual service.

Fair enough. It will be interesting to see who are we going to sign under the new manager.

I'd rather come 2nd, than 18th. Funny that :)
