Romelu Lukaku

He is no better or worse than Yakubu.
Another striker who is lethal in front of goal, but lacks the all round game that is required in this day and age.
The very best strikers score goals but make a nuisance of themselves.

Rom just wants chances fed into him and that just will not happen with this current set up, and tbf, the clubs that can provide that for him, have strikers who offer this already stated: The very best strikers score goals but make a nuisance of themselves.

His hold up play was superb

He just didn't want to run the channels, like Moyes asked of all his striker's, so Cahill could arrive late into the box.

Utterly woeful again (!) last night! If him or his agent think a Champions League team is going to come knocking on the door for him they're deluded! If someone is stupid enough to hand over £60m for a player with his attitude they need they're bumps feeling, and I'd snatch their hands off without hesitating!

Unfortunately we can't attract a world class striker at the moment so when /if lukaku leaves we will end up with a lesser striker. And if that striker ran around like a headless wind up chicken non stop for the whole match (but scored less goals than Lukaku) I can't help but feel that quite a few people here would be happy with that.

Yes he looks and is lazy but he scores goals and he is the only everton player at the moment that one of the worlds top 5-6 clubs would show interest in.

Hopefully we buy in enough high profile good quality players to keep Lukaku here.

No way those top 5-6 clubs in the world are interested in him. Look at all the strikers at topclubs, they have one thing in common: their technique is good enough to play in small spaces and if they're tecnically not at a top level they are a pain in the ass for defenders beacause of their movement. Lukaku hasnt got those things. He always making the wrong moves and just cant hold a ball because he has a shocking first touch. If there is a club who is stupid enough to spend 50 mil on him we'll have to accept that without a doubt. Maybe we wouldnt find a striker who scores as much goals as him but if we find someone with better hold up play and/or movement it wil benefit our whole attacking play.

Get rid of Barkley and lukaku, players without brains who add nothing to eachother, find players with vision and technique and then you'll see how much our attacking play will improve.

And replace them with..?

He doesn't want the ball to feet because it makes him look bad. That's why he points and flaps when he makes a half-hearted attempt at a 50/50 pass.

Exactly, he does exactly the same thing with long balls because he doesnt like balls in the air and having a fight with defenders.
If you start focussing on that in matches its almost embarrassing to see. He only feels comfortable when he has to run like a donkey.

You have scouting for that. I know a guy like Vincent janssen isnt doing it for Spurs but i'll think that if we had him as a striker people would be verry surprised to see how much of a difference it will make when you have a striker who wants every ball, who fights for every ball and who can hold a ball if you play him into his feet. Other players will benefit from that.

A club like Dortmund is the best example for us. They always find attacking midfielders and forwards with technique vision and/or pace and develop them into great players. Spurs bought eriksen from ajax so its possible for us to find those players only you have to have good scouts.

So frustrating with Rom. Clearly has ability and could be an outstanding player (and still can be) if he takes a long, hard look in the mirror, realises his weaknesses and then has the desire to do something about them. His first touch is a pass its that poor....whether that can be taught I don't know. Because its that bad you need players in and around him to pick up the ball when it pings off him...its why Naismith played well with him.
For his size and stature he's as soft as a lamb. He should be bullying defenders all game long, but I've yet to see a defender come off the pitch knowing he's been battered by Rom's physique. His work rate is low and his interest-levels are lower.

BUT, he scores goals. And that's why he'll be in demand. Not by the Super clubs, but by the next level.

Spot on, the work rate issue and the fact that he has the touch of a baby elephant are why the top teams won't come sniffing! I hate the bloke but Ibrahimovich (and he's 35 for goodness sake!) for one, and Costa are both players who put Rom to shame - he should spend his Christmas watching videos of the shift they both put in whenever they step on the pitch!

love reading the rom fume after another game like last night.

OMG HE DIDN'T SCORE LOADS AND BOSS THE GAME, HE IS CRAP, GET RID!

Not too sure how many strikers in the world would be able to win games by having to jump for 40 yard hoof balls, have no-one AT ALL near him for him to lay it off to, and 4 defenders behind him, whilst having his back to goal for most of the game (and half way up the pitch). the fact any support players had to run from our box after the ball was hit just to make it to him, what else do you want him to do all game?

We went with hoof-balls the second half because he struggled so pathetically with basic passes in the first half. He can't accept that he has a part to play in the buildup, that his trampoline shins lead to more opposition attacks than Everton attacks, and that being a striker is more than waiting by the goal for a perfect pass

One thing ive been getting frustrated about is his closing down (when he does bother to break into a jog)
Instead of closing down infront of the ball to stop the centre half coming forward with the ball, he is always going at them side on which makes it look like he is chasing something but in reality he is passing them on to the midfield and making sure IF we win the ball back he is within distance to always receive it!
It is so frustrating!

I know easier said then done but Lukaku is what? Guaranteed 17/18 goals a season, but that is detrimental to all our other forward players who none look like getting over 5 goals.
Give me 2 forwards who will get you 11/12 each plus open up more space and make more off the ball running to help there team any day of the week!
Its something the RS have done well, Ladyboy Firminho not scored for 5 games or so. But thats ok because he does the work off the ball to free up space for the likes of Mane, Lallana, Origi & Coutinho (when fit) to net
