Romelu Lukaku

He is a 5 out of 10 rating kind of player. The odd occasional game he will rise to an 8 but that's once every month, or once every 5 games (give or take a game).

His new nickname should be Full Moon as we see that once a month.

He's 22 though. How many attackers at that age are spectacular every week?

When you look at the 'mature' strikers that are considered the best in the league (Aguero, Costa etc.) are they 8/10 every week?

lol I like that 'full moon' nickname.

I agree with most of the things you say mate about his performances or lack of, the 1 great game in 5 and then anonymous for the other 4. I can't argue with any of that.

But what the kid does and what can't be argued is that he slots goals for fun and his record when stacked up against the best strikers the PL have produced or the best players in world football like Messi are similar and that can't be knocked.

For every 2 points he costs us when missing sitters like against Swansea, he then goes and produces a 30 minute spell where West Brom simply couldn't handle him.

That's what we've got on our hands, a player who is going to absolutely drive us mad, but in the process and at the end of the season we will look at his record of I reckon something like 18+ league goals and 10+ cup goals and that will mean we will have had a good season from him and hopefully a cup for us or top 4.

There's certainly about 12-14 premier league clubs who would love to have him in their side.

Aguero, world class? Pfft. Hasn't score in 6 league games he's rubbish... He would be better suited in league 1!

I'm not expecting him to be spectacular every week, that's unrealistic. Is it unrealistic of me to expect a player to at least do the basics each week though? I dont.

Keeping throwing his age in the mix though. But he's 28 though, still learning, movement will come, be patient.

He's out of form.. I'm not saying that he's crap.
My point is if you had a striker that was an 8/10 player every week then he'd be hitting 30 goals a season with ease.

I think its amazing that a player who has scored 6 goals in 10 this season and will probably average that for the rest of the season gets so much grief off some people.

My point wasn't directed at you chap.

I think we should accept at this stage of his career he tends to perform in streaks, and his contributions in matches will be intermittently high impact contributions.

I am sure the coaching staff at Everton will look to eradicate those patterns. Having said that he is the best goalscorer we have had at the club for 30 years, and if he stays for the duration of this contract and longer will become one of our all time high scorers.

No complaints from me, it is a pleasure to see him in a blue shirt, long may he do so.

Weird trend this but i know what you mean, the players who have scored for us this season and have been doing well some people seem to be more critical of then those who have barely done anything of note.

If he turns up we'll win, simple as that. Even if Jags, Stones, McCarthy and Ross have a stinker, an on form Lukaku wins us the Derby.
