Romelu Lukaku

I think we should accept at this stage of his career he tends to perform in streaks, and his contributions in matches will be intermittently high impact contributions.

I am sure the coaching staff at Everton will look to eradicate those patterns. Having said that he is the best goalscorer we have had at the club for 30 years, and if he stays for the duration of this contract and longer will become one of our all time high scorers.

No complaints from me, it is a pleasure to see him in a blue shirt, long may he do so.

Excellent post.

Just an average player for me at this stage of his career. You can show all the stats you like but i judge a player on what i see week in and week out. He is extremely frustrating to watch and very inconsistent. He just had three and a half dreadful games on the bounce before deciding that he wants to play a bit. You can see there is some ability there but he absolutely does not do it often enough, not at all. Whether its a mental thing ive no idea but because of the extreme inconsistency, he is average.

The truth will hurt the fanboys but its there for all to see each week. At this stage, average.

If he is an average striker then god only knows what most of the strikers in the league are.

He's a fantastic goalscorer; but not a particularly good footballer.

That's why he's playing for us to be fair, and the reason why no club bigger than Wolfsburg have been interested. At the elite level you need to contribute to the team as a whole as well as finding the back of the net, like you see the Suarez's and Aguero's do. I don't think Lukaku will ever do that, and I think for the money it'd take to pry him away (£40m+ minimum), a scout wouldn't be convinced by him enough to do so.

To give another example, Jordan Rhodes. That guy scores for fun for Blackburn to the point where it's hard to name another Blackburn player as he's so dominant at that level. Better than 1 in 2 every game, yet nobody is prepared to pay the money for him at a bigger club. Why? Same reason as Lukaku - simply too many reservations about his overall game. Lukaku is just that magnified.

that assist for kone was pretty good tho? in fact his passing and vision is really good(remmeber him slipping mirrallas through a few times)

his major problem is his first touch which has just never improved

So, you backed Jelavic to the hilt despite him being given more than enough time to come good again, but you are all over Lukakus flaws including after games in which he scores important goals and/or plays well?

Sorry, but along with @blue4eva77 who lauds Kone whilst simultaneously trolling Naisy and Lukaku, I have to say the majority of your posts come across as nothing more than attention seeking.

(i hope you both have enjoyed the little bit of attention I´ve given you ;) )

People moaning about Rom, Yes he is a lazy Bas***d but he can change games. that WBA game i would have taken him off at half time but he can change a game and thats what world class strikers do. whats the better option, having a world class lazy bas***d or Straq who ran his arse off but couldnt hit a barn door

As long as he keeps banging the goals in then the fee is justified. The rest of his game will come along gradually. Goals is why we paid the price and he is getting them. If a striker doesn't score then he has been deemed to have a poor match. Lukaku is scoring and assisting and we know he will get better and better. Lineker got 40 goals for us but didn't assist too much and when he didn't score you could say he was rubbish. Same as Latchford and most goalscorers. Put the goals with all round play and you are talking at 40m and above nowadays.

Ugh, how can people talk smack seriously. I'm not getting into it. Thank god we came up with the money for Lukaku is all I'll say.
