Romelu Lukaku

Belgium is the place he goes back to conspire.

I find it dubious he's gone there for treatment on a "calf injury" no one realised he had.

There will be massive interest in Lukaku. He's big box office now and his current contract is winding down. Despite last week's comments about another Everton contract the smart money has to be on his leaving.
Dave this is very naughty and clearly scaremongering. How can I ask that he doesn't have a calf strain? Almost as if he does go it's a told you so moment. Wrong and not needed.

Maybe, just maybe he is injured and given his immense importance to us the medical staff at the club decided not to risk aggravating the injury further by traveling half way across the world. He can go to Belgium, see a specialist and see family for a few days.
Not a chance ..waay to reasonable!!
Sounds much more plausable that he's going to talk wham to journo's...

How many times has he gone back to Belgium and then been "misquoted" concerning his Everton career?

The calf injury has come out of nowhere and if it's minor why isn't it being better treated on a week long trip to a warm weather resort?

Is that scaremongering or just pointing out the obvious?

Yeah, I hate those unplanned injuries! Give me a nice planned broken leg anytime :coffee:

The lads injured and it's enough to have him take a few days off, so off he's gone to see his family! Shock horror

My guess is the new contract is on the table and they've given him a break to go decide. When they get back either he'll sign or we'll start to see loads in the papers about him being off.

I think this is probably close to the truth.

You can read what you want into it.

Ultimately if there comes a point sooner or later that he wants to leave, he will do and we have to get the best possible value.

I would not read too much into a contract extension if he signs such, but better than not doing obviously.

The noises from Raiola have been very upbeat, so more confident than previously he will sign, but I think its odds against any more than one more season unless things take a big turn for the better in terms of challenging the Top 6.

To retain him over the next couple of years, I think we will have to show a significantly greater degree of ambition and more importantly, delivery, for transfers, over last summer.
