Romelu Lukaku

It's not difficult, every 3500 calories above your maintenance rate = 1 pound of fat.

I'd hazard a guess that his calorie requirement to cover training and his size would be 3000 calories a day. Included in that to put on muscle means he would need 200g of protein which at its leanest source accounts for 800 calories alone.

Alexis Sanchez did not balloon in 6 weeks like Rom, to go as big a lukaku did in such a short space of time makes me think he was loaded on creatine and pulled in a few pounds of water, probably consumed loads of simple carbs spiking his insulin all over the place and hence his bloated bulky appearance.

He looks like a typical 19 year old who goes the gym and buys 5lb tub of weight gain from Holland and Barrett which is just 1200 calorie shakes made up of sugar and whey.

Just because football clubs employ diecticians etc it means absolutely nothing if a player goes home and does what he wants.

Anyone remember Rooneys first summer break after making it in our first team? Came back with a skin head and 5 chins and moyes hit the roof, ashley Williams with his bloated gut.... some players will overdo it and it's not difficult to put on 1.5 stone.... but don't kid yourselves that it's muscle. Muscle takes weeks and weeks of clean eating and training to make noticeable gains without any fat
I need to lose a stone mate can't seem to shift it I have cut my cream cake intake down from 16 per week to 15 doesn't seem to be working, any thoughts.

Do you have qualifications in sports science or just go to the gym a lot and base your “ observations “ on what you see in the gym ?

Do you just pretend that miscontrolling balls, losing possession, strolling around, not being able to win headers or an inability to hold the ball up means you can still be a good striker?

Because having a goal hanger who does all those things isn't hilarious..... whats even worse is some fans who don't understand football can't see it.

Best striker since Rooney? Whatever he is I wouldn't have him near our side on a free transfer. You can argue where he sits amongst the likes of James Beattie, beckford, AJ, Jo, Jelavic, Kone, Saha, Jeffers, all of which combined cost less than what he cost us...
All of which were nowhere near as good for us as he was.

Oh and DCL is crap. Cheers.

I can't escape the fact that some bedwetters still pine for a player who had 6 easy chances plus a penalty against Man United to get us into an FA cup final...... yet they go on about a lad who is years behind in experience levels but can pop on his CV that he scored a final winning goal for England in the U21 world cup, and who has since kicked on and become a far more rounded player than Rom ever will be.

Pele was the wrong footballer to advertise Viagra, lukaku is the perfect, he can't get past a semi.
TBF to Pedro here that England U21 Work Cup does look great in our trophy cabinet at Goodison.

Can't believe people overlook that DCL won the world Cup for us a few years back.

What a shout that is.

Think that @pedro1976 made some good points there, he has made some noticeable fat percent increase. Not a fan of this clique laughing at his points.

There's a video of Lukaku wolfing down a plate of Chips cheese and gravy in his Belgium tracksuit and his team mates laughing, he's definitely put on the lard.

Pedro has you all dancing to his tune. He's been calling this for years and you deniers just couldn't accept a truth that was right in front of your eyes all along. Lukaku is, and always has been, an average, technically deficient striker with a nose for goals against garbo teams. He has won the debate, accept your defeat with grace and kiss the feet of your new king

When you're claiming DCL is better than Lukaku you're going to get laughed at and rightly so.

An obese Lukaku is both literally and figuratively twice the player DCL will ever be.

He does make some good points mate but he is blinkered on lukaku and tells other posters that there knowledge of football is nil just because he doesn't like or agree with their comments. When in fact anyone who thinks Lewin is a better choice than lukaku is being silly.

But in Silva's system you need the work rate to get those chances in the first place

A #9 in a Marco Silva system is required to do a lot of work

Is he equipped to do that work?
But Lewin does the work rate gets the chances but doesn't take them, or has not got the awareness of a goalscorer, to get in to the postions. You are right Lukaku won't work as hard but will score a great deal more.

I don't think he would get enough chances to make a difference, because the required leg work wouldn't be done

Not because he's "lazy" or any of that nonsense , but because he's just physically not capable of putting that work in

We'd have to completely rejig the way we play to accommodate him

Is he worth that when DCL could easily start slotting or we could sign someone else more cut out for Silva's style?
