Ronald Koeman discussion

Nah, he made a slip in a press conference. Nothing major.

It's not about instant gratification - it's about seeing a squad that has finished 11th twice in a row improving markedly, and this so-far disingenuous marketing campaign the club have used to shift tickets having some truth in it.

Is Gueye a massive improvement? Hmm, not convinced. Is Stekelenburg? Not really. Would Williams be? Yes, but not if it means Stones is leaving.

We've currently got no number one goalkeeper, one fit and decent centreforward, and a hell of a lot of deadwood. 'Nothing will be the same' is a bit wishful!

I agree mate. The goalkeeper situation is especially galling. I wonder whether football mentality never changes from 6 year olds on the park to professional billion pound institutions. Put the rubbish kid in nets.

Great strikers win you games, great goalkeepers win you trophies.

Why are we not being linked with players all over the show?

We clearly aren't offering the players targeted the sort of money that you have to in our situation. Moshiri needs to speak publicly. Like has he done one public interview? Stop hiding away behind the scenes leaking talk of huge action whilst delivering the square root of FA

I guess my point is that non of our bids have failed yet. All the 'big' names linked haven't joined other clubs yet. Still time. They get until the end of this window before my fume.

Think my point really is, if this was Martinez and kenwright we'd be worried mate, until things change by actions then it's just all words.

Are you suggesting no influential Premier League transfers have been completed once the first ball has been kicked in years gone by?

no im saying if we dont sign players this week, before the season starts, then we are gunna get thumped by spurs, bigtime.

and with our past history in getting deals done, we might be lucky to secure ONE this week.

we need 3/4 !! absolutely no chance

In our best ever PL season we got thumped by the other side of North London on the opening day, we went on to sell Rooney a couple of weeks later and purchased Marcus Bent and Tim Cahill. We have no idea what will happen.

True, but outside of Lukaku, we've purchased the likes of Besic, Mori, Atsu and Niasse. That's Kwik Save, we're (hopefully) now popping over to Waitrose (or a good supermarket to clomped my metaphor)

Three of the four most expensive Everton players ever were purchased by the previous manager. McCarthy, Naisse, Lukaku.

We've shopped at the top table a fair amount, we've just bought a lot of tosh.

New players now doesn't look like that'll affect the outcome imo. I'm not looking forward to next weekend and haven't been since Dresden. We should've had players in at least by the week after the euros finished, now they're gonna have to slot in straight away.

Admirable optimism on the back of a one-off season.

Robinho signed for city in abar one day.

They signed Nigel De Jong in the January and he had a huge reputation.

following summer (their first full one after takeover) they signed Tevez and Adebayor.

Summer after that Toure, Balotelli, Silva.

Hardly years at all.

He thought he was joining United. Intelligent man is Robinho.

City threw about 250m down the toilet to finally get somewhere.

FFP makes that impossible now and I would be a bit uncomfortable with seeing new versions of Adebayor, Santa Cruz and Wayne Bridge stealing a living off us.

It is going to take time and that is always the biggest obstacle and enemy in the world of football where instant gratification is a must ( I want to win every single game too, I am one of worst at losing gracefully too, so it pains me to think this way, but it is for the best long term).

Our new owner isn't a Mega Rich Arab Royal Prince, he's a business man. Also the FFP has screwed us, in terms of throwing money at our problems. As I said in my rather large post before, the fact we've not given squad numbers to certain players shows we're not skint. Then you add money we've paid to Southampton and Leicester for back room staff, then the money Roberto has or will get. Going to take time to make us into a team challenging. Also even West Brom have rich owners now. Westham have a giant new stadium for a rent that's basically free to a Premier League team. There are no quick fix's we want years of success not a couple of seasons. Look at the stat Blackburn are in now. Remember when they were a the big spenders? Lasted what two or three season's. Yes they won the league, but I wounder if their supporters would sooner of taken a longer path to the Premier League title, than having that one fantastic moment. Firm foundations will give the means to get to were we want.
