Remember this? Reading back on it, I genuinely wonder if it is actually true. Very interesting nonetheless.

Certainly portends a lot of what we have seen here.

Remember during the dog days of Roberto's reign someone posted an almost prophetic post a Wigan fan had made when Bobby left them?

That Saints bloke was writing about how Koeman tried hoofball to get out of the slump Saints were in last season but it took an injury to his totem to force a change of style and break out of it.

Scarily familiar in our current situation.

"Winner"? You've been conned with that sales pitch mate. He has done nothing management wise in the game. This is the biggest test of his ability he's had in 17 years of managing - this is a massive job with massive expectation in the biggest league in the world. In that league he's done a respectable job at S'ton and no more than that. So far at Everton he has stunk the place out in terms of the footy served up. Those players can actually play football. He chooses to ask them to go route one and shames this club in the process. I 'kin cringed in that Derby game. Playing his dinosaur football against them in one of the biggest fixtures in European football beamed are around the globe. He made us look like a two bob pub team.

Disagree Dave, the biggest test of his management at a massive club was at Valencia when they were on course to finish in the top3 with that squad...

But yeah, take your point...

Twice :coffee:

That's the first time I read this. Funny thing is, a lot of it sounds very similar to what we hear now. Doesn't attend youth matches, supposedly limited training sessions and a very aloof attitude towards the club.
It is interesting but it's a bit pathetic don't you think? Reads like a diary entry from a dumped girlfriend telling herself that she's beautiful. Big club / small club labels are usually nonsense, but that really does display such an insecure mentality.

Roberto Martinez attended youth matches, got involved in training, and went to town on the soft side of management, and is now the concensus pick as the worst Everton manager since world war II. An obsequious con man who was roaring with laughter at how guillable we all were just because he invited Howard to Finch Farm one time.

Based on the evidence of the last few years, yes these players can play football, they're just not very good at it.

Then you have a very short memory. Even in the last two mediocre seasons Everton were noted by most in the game as a team that could get on the ball and play some very nice football. No one is ever going to say the same about this ugly Everton team Koeman is intent on putting together. We are in a bracket now with the likes of Palace, Watford and West Brom - teams that pay very little attention to the movement of the ball.

It's 'kin atrocious.

Oh Dave mate...

Cant see where the controversy is in that post:

Is this his biggest job? Yes.
Is the football served up utter slop? Yes.
Was the Derby performance a disgrace? Yes.

IS it his biggest job - hmm arguable isn't it really, he has managed two teams that where power houses of European football in times gone by (Ajax and Benfica) and one team that more recently than us has been winning leagues in a top league (Valencia) and was contesting European cup finals mate, so actually no we aren't his biggest job, he has managed 3 clubs (4 if you include PSV) that could argue the toss about that really, pretty sure all those teams supporters think they are bigger than Everton

Is the football any worse than the majority of the last 18 months under Martinez, no, and thats coming from match going blues who actually prefer what they are seeing now over what they endured under Martinez - yanno why, because they aren't daft enough to fail to realise that we are less than half a season into a manager whose entire methods are different than the prior one and who ahs been left a collection of players on the downside of their careeres or broken prospect types that OFM seemed to excel in collecting

Was the Derby performance a disgrace, depends mate, was it worse than this?

Possession Home46% Away54% Shots Home 6 Away 17 Shots on Target Home 1 Away 6 Corners Home 3 Away 6 Fouls Home 11 Away 7

Martinez second home derby when we played horrendously and bar the luck of a crossbar would have lost 1-0 to Ibe's strike, so can we have your opinion on the 0-0 that season mate, was the performance under Martinez a disgrace? can always go into the vaults to verify your answer matches with what you said at the time

Trouble with this sort of hyperbolex is that you soon run out of words. If Monday's performance was a disgrace, how would you characterise last season's 4-0 Derby hammering, where they actually went easy on us? Doubleplusungood disgrace?
