Ronald Koeman discussion

Is anyone genuinely fuming about losing pre season games?

Imagine that , a set of players asked to play the same way for 3 years suddenly get told to play completely different and in a bunch of training games are still learning on how to do it?

Jesus this window has weeks to run - you can't judge now. We do not buy players for the opening day but for 9 months and as already quoted were not yet were the top players want to play. Steady progress is needed imo min2 years before we could realistically target top 4.

Totally disagree, I'll judge this window when it shuts.

I'm happy enough with the team that started yesterday starting the season, it's a much better 11 than any we put out last season, and I'd rather get our top targets than panic and accept 2nd best.

Although I do expect signings this week anyway.

Why are you saying "window"? I said "pre-season". We're now under a week away from the season started, and it's a complete abortion of a pre-season.

We've potentially sacrificed the early part of the season by not getting business done early and bedding in new talent. That's completely beyond argument at this point - we've had a terrible pre-season.

He might rescue the window as a whole, like I said, but it doesn't make a difference when it comes to how he's handled pre-season.

But I don't were looking at a game changer in Moshiri, tbh.

It doesn't appear so. Still early days, mind, but there doesn't appear to be any sort of radical overhaul as yet; in fact it's almost 'as you were'.

The change from the impotent, ineffective earl hoodwinked a few, I reckon.

I think we are where we were under Kenwright, by and large.

If Moshiri this summer had put a viable and likely to happen stadium scheme in front of us then I suppose the matter might look differently in regards to priorities. But we are, with the best will in the world, miles off that objective.

Well get names in by September! no question. But I don't were looking at a game changer in Moshiri, tbh.

Completely in agreement. If Moshiri was the game changer we hoped, we wouldn't be days away from the start of a season with a sub goalkeeper from Fulham and a relegated midfielder who was part of one of the worst overall defenses in Premier League history as our only incomings.

We'll find that out at the end of September. freindlies mean nothing, win, lose or draw.

I'll judge the preseason when I see how our results pan out and how we perform in our opening few games. Then we will know how well prepared they were.

Why are we blaming Moshiri? For all we know he may have £200m in funds available.

I couldn't give a toss about pre-season results - what I am concerned about is the lack of obvious remedying needed to this squad to give us a chance of starting the season well.

We have, without question, not gave ourselves the best chance of starting strong. Not even close.

Exactly. He "might".

That's all we know, apart from that we know for certain now that we've had a terrible prep for the new season.

From now until the end of the window, we could spend £200m - who knows? But we haven't shown any sign of that yet, so questions will be asked.

Let's face it, at this point we haven't even made a dent in the TV money, let alone Moshiri making an investment.

Mate were a mid table premier league side be it declining in performance. It will take time to convince the players we need to come to us - the last week of the window is when the majority of these deals are done. As for city different world to us.

to be fair the way we are performing on and off the pitch is enough to put most potential suitors right off coming to us.

like @bluestevon says, we need to show intent by splashing out a ridiculous offer to just one star name, an offer they simply can not refuse. it will make other players know we do actually have ambition and we are not just full of hot air.

im only suggesting we do this, as its what our new owner and board literally stated when they first arrived. they also stated none of our big players would be sold, which at present they are true to their word, but lets see how that pans out.

if stones and rom do actually go, and we sign no-one of any real significance, like a £40mil plus buy, then i would say this whole takeover has started absolutely disatourously.

No-one's blaming him (Yet) Observations are being made.
Oh believe me I am as frustrated as anyone.
His only mistake to date, for me anyway, is his choice of Manager but I am willing to give him a go.
Moshiri is going to change Everton off field forever I believe. His biggest battle will be on the park I fear.

I think it depends on the level of commitment from Moshiri. If he really is into this project as deep as he says and others imply then real change will come and it'll make the Kenwright years look like the nightmare it was. Anything short of full commitment though...looking for this club to grow it's commercial potential and develop a stadium to make our breakthrough...will end in tears.

Moshiri needs to step up and sink a lot of cash upfront into everton, if he doesn't then we've been sold a pup.

I hear you mate. But blaming Moshiri for this imho isn't accurate.
Been a heck of a lot of procrastination this Summer. Hopefully lessons are learnt fit the future.

this post alone is why I think I need to take a brake from this forum, the whole fraud shouts are just embarrassing and why we as fans don't deserve good things sometimes, anyway enjoy being constantly negative

How are they embarrassing? Do you have any evidence he's not a fraud?

People aren't calling him one by the way - they're saying they haven't seen anything to the contrary, which is the whole point. Until we see something tangible, there is nothing to judge either way. At this point, people who suspect he's a fraud are every bit as right to do so as those who are cautiously optimistic about him.

For the record, I think he has money, but he's not the game changer many of us hoped. We'll probably have a net spend of £50m or something come the end of the window, which is basically the TV money, and the hope now is that Moshiri has wrote this season off as a transitional one and is looking at the longer term.
