Ronald Koeman discussion

We´ve looked exactly like what we are, a squad of middling premier league players with a couple of frustrated want-away players of higher quality. Add to that the difference between us and say Stoke and West Ham who have squads of similar quality is that our players look absolutely shot psychologically. There seems to be no fight or togetherness in them whatsoever.

Yep.

Even Koeman's arrival hasn't seemed to injected any fresh impetus into them.

So when he was interviewed he wasnt informed about the players whose contracts were running outcand if he wanted to keep any?

To suggest otherwise is incredulous

Apparently the extension had been offered/agreed before he signed. He thought it was correct to honour the offer.

We may have gave ourselves the best chance of having a strong season rather than just a strong start though.

Koeman may feel we have enough to win our first 4 or 5 games with what we have and would prefer to hold on for his top targets, like Hart, Koulibaly, Mata and Witsel. Which in turn would make a real difference to how our season pans out in the long term and would put us firmly on the top table.

Or he could panic, sign average to decent players for absurd fees like Jordan Ibe for 15 mill, Wijnaldum for 20+, Townsend for 14, Mane for 38, Wanyama for 15 etc and maybe make us better in the short term but they're not making any difference in the long term. They certainly wouldn't put as the top table again unlike the names listed earlier.

There's a reason the top players haven't
moved yet, as there is a lot if competition for them, but come deadline day I expect and think we'll see Everton have set themselves up in a different league moving forward to the one we've been used to previously.

the usual trend if for the top names to move a couple weeks before deadline day, leaving the 2nd rate players for the lesser clubs to argue it for them in the last 48 hours. i hope this isnt what everton have got planned

Nothing to do with the results of friendlies, everything to do with the fact no promises have been delivered on and he's left the squad a mess 6 days from the opening day.

Has he improved the squad? Has he moved us closer to the ''elite' of europe. Has he frig. lol
Again what promises haven't been met? You keep banging on about how we where promised the world, when the truth is we weren't, Moshiri has done exactly what he said he would, invested in a new management team, invested in ground improvements, provided a transfer kitty (which isn't really his fault if players are stalling is it), and the biggest one for me is he is close to securing not the ground, but there really is no point debating things with the negative crowd as you just seem to like shouting the loudest about how everything is crap and we are doomed

Thats rubbish and regardless of those with different opinions we have to give him a chance. I take it if given the choice you want him sacked now?

Its not rubbish is it. Also id never have hired him so sacking him is a moot point. Weve just wasted a fortune when unsworth could do better.

So he sanctioned / re-signed the plsyer.

You could read it that way. Or you could say that if the club had an informal agreement with a player made before he arrived, he didnt think it should be torn up.

Depends on your agenda I guess.

He could have been stronger then one can argue.
Poor decision from whomever.

Bloody hell he hasnt managed a competitive game and he is now doomed. Unsworth managed one meaningless game against a team already relegated and now he is the saviour. Let's see were we are after 10 games.

Bang on the money mate. I keep reading about decisiveness and I dont see it. You're right, the Koeman business dragged on. It was a sharp move and a determined one, but it ran a couple of weeks too long. I realise Southampton were an issue but that didn't stop Everton backing Koeman to prepare the way to make swift signings once it was completed. The trouble is (as per) the cash isn't there. We're are in recycling mode still.

A wholly innacurate statement Dave.
