Ronald Koeman discussion

Martinez's 'style' has proven not to work.

He's actually adapted with the Belgium role and now pretty much plays a 3-4-3 ala Chelsea, to get the best out of Hazard.

I don't really mean his exact style, but more of a general progressive passing style. Not that I can say with authority that Koeman's style is the opposite of that. I just know I don't like what I have seen so far.

Anyway, we are getting on to personal preference here. We have the manager we have, and I will judge him on whether whatever style he has works after a reasonable amount of time. The comments on whether or not the style is "good" would just purely be based on my own wants.

2 seasons of finishing 11th and people are now turning their noses up at 7th as a starting point.

I just dont know what to say.
Also, when you consider how far the 6 teams above us have stretched away from us in the past 24 months, due to them getting better and us getting much much worse than anything we'd witnessed in over a decade, it really is a head scratcher.

But it's good for the forum.

Which will no doubt lead to more complaints from the normal suspects about the 'added burden of a nothing competition' until we inevitably crash out and the same fools complain about a 'wasted opportunity'. We really are in a lose-lose scenario with some of our own fans atm.

I'll be honest I'm not a fan of the Europa league, at least not until the knockout rounds.

If we end up keeping the likes of Gibson and Mccarthy, they can play in it along with the kids and if we get far, then take it seriously.

Personally mate when it's clicked this season I think we've looked good.

We've played with the 'robust' tenacity we had under Moyes but also the quick, incisive style present in RM's first season.

However, it hasn't clicked enough - yet. I think it'll come together though, and that process will quicken up if we have a good window.

We need a 72.9% increase in back-heels before we can be successful.

  1. Good January with some solid acquisitions
  2. Try to improve and implement Ronksters way of playing
  3. Finish 6/7/8 this year
  4. Improve the squad with more quality in the summer
  5. Aim for CL places next year
And repeat until we rule the world

if we repeat that mate we will only finish as high as 6th.

Need to put some variables in there, aim for CL but finish 6th?

European football is ace, cant understand anyone who knocks it when we've finished in the same place back to back seasons once with Europe and once without. If Koeman brings it back in his first season that's a success. It's not been that common for us in the premier league era for us to be turning our nose up at it.
