Looking at this team in all honesty ,I still rate Coleman and Baines despite their occasional lapses of form, Lukaku is the best out and out goalscorer we've had since Lineker, Davies and Holgate are quality, Gana has been exceptional and Deulofeu has the makings of a great winger if he ever applies himself. As for the rest ? Pfffffft.

Our main problem is that the three players behind Lukaku aren't good enough. They don't create enough and they don't score. Our defensive record is fine but no one other than Lukaku and our defenders score.

Compare this with the teams in the top 6 and it's no wonder we are 7th.

The issue in my opinion has been threefold;

1-- Using Bolasie as the focal point of the attack...predictable and underwhelming.

2-- Not having a consistent 3 who can all interject and pass the ball around.

3-- Dropping Deulofeu / Barkley. They get double marked frequently, but if you play both together it creates space for say, Mirallas or even Gueye to move centrally into the box.

If we had say Lookman, Barkley and Gueye we would have pace, skill and attacking threats in all areas and they cant all be stopped.

Im just using lookman as an example as otherwise it would be mirallas and he offers little threat most games.

Yes to Hull but i was talking about teams like Watford,West ham,Southampton, stoke, Bournemouth.

I think 7th is the maximum with this squad, the 6 topteams are much better in every position, that pretty clear.

he's doing an average job when we're finishing 9th. Every place below 10th is failure.

You need a consistent goalscorer to be successful. None of the teams you listed has one...the teams above us all have at least one.

Vardy at leicester and benteke at palace are the only other two

Neither of which has the quality of squad that we do and Leicester play cup games home and abroad + palace just lost benteke to injury

I understand you just got here this season with your brother but last year he had more assists than Fabregas, Firmino, Navas, Sissoko, Giroud, Llana, Rooney and lots more. 11th in the league in assists but he can't get a game for us this year? I mean just how did that happen last year if he's so terrible? Is it possible he's good at football?

What's this cup obsession with some people? As if we had a good chance to win it.

And there it is. The ultimate example of 20 years of lowering expectations. Yes, actually, a team sitting in 7th place in the top division does have a good chance of winning a domestic cup competition. If we ever do win anything ever again it will make most of us, maybe even you, feel much more positive about everything around the club. What an idiotic statement for someone supposedly extolling the virtues of our current set up. Laughable.
