Ronald Koeman discussion

How noble! How gracious! You are a true gentleman of the scene, my friend.

Somebody call Ronald Koeman. You have more time Ronald! We might even let you manage 1 single professional football match before we judge you, you lucky swine.

I've never once stated that I don't believe in Koeman or have even intimated that he's not the right man for the job. All I'm saying is that Everton should be better prepared for the season and Koeman has to take some responsibility for that.

I don't know why everything has to be black or white with Everton. The reality is always in the gray areas. I recognize Koeman's abilities and what he's accomplished but I can also be critical at times. He's not perfect. No one is.

I think some people don't realise the massive task Koeman was left with after the Martinez debacle. Emery probably ran to PSG screaming when he saw what he had to work with. The team was so unfit last season it was unreal - Koeman is moving us from a slow paced passing game to a high pressure pressing game. To get the fitness levels required will take time. I just wish people would get off the club's back - we should be getting excited about the future - not kicking off because it isn't happening "right now".

The players haven't had a proper training regime in 3 years, there not use to being pushed so hard, he's blaming them for not probably eating right or training enough to in the post/preseason as with Martinez they probably didn't need 2

I'm extremely excited about the future. The hope I have for Everton under Moshiri is boundless. The difference from 1 year ago today is truly massive and almost unbelievable. However, that won't stop me from being critical when I think it's deserved. Being disappointed in the preseason and worried about the state of the club 2 days from the start of the season is just stating how I feel right now. I think Koeman could have done better at this point but I have confidence that he will eventually turn things around.

Better how?

That could definitely be true. And I will say this, Koeman's claim of 70% fit may mean 90% or even 100% for other managers. His standards could very well be much higher than anyone on Everton are used to.

Better how?

Better attacking football definitely. More intensity, better fluidity in passing and movement. The last match was incredibly boring and it never looked like we were threatening goal. I would have liked to see more from Everton only being one week away from the season.

The pre-season games were already in place when he arrived. By all accounts he has completely ran them into the ground in training and If he is still not happy with their fitness levels then good, keep whipping them into shape. We will get there, and in the mean time a 70% fit Koeman side is fitter than any Martinez side.

Why not see them in action before you jump the gun?

Wahey, the club fixed it

Wow. Quiet a change of tone from his predecessor. When Roberto first came so many embraced the new positive and ambitious spin. When the reality of decline set in perceptions changed.
RK's Moyes like lowering of expectations is now seen as refreshingly honest. How long that lasts depends on the results.

Hear Hear! The club has been a shambles for the last two years at least.

Perhaps the path back to the top is going to take longer than anticipated, not because of the efforts of the current management but the position they inherited.

I'm being perfectly reasonable. He's had months to work on things and the pre-season was pretty disappointing. I'm more than willing to give Koeman more time, I just think we should have noticed more of a difference at this point. For what it's worth, I'll still be advocating giving Koeman more time even if we lose our first 5 games and don't bring in anyone else at the transfer window.
5 games and you are willing to give him time

What happens if we are not performing to the high standards you set after 10 games

He's looked at the players and seen what we needed, he's brought the 2nd best DM in the country and a very very good and experienced CD to sort out the defence, he's sold a slightly over rated youngster for huge money that cost us at least 10 points last season. He's getting Bolasie because he has pace, skill, knows the league and in a better team then palaces will thrive.
He brought a solid experienced(can you see the theme yet) goalie that he had last season, even if it's only as back up, as Howard has gone and Joel has little experience
