Ronald Koeman discussion

So you'd agree that Martinez was rightfully relieved of his position after delivering neither in 3 years
Martinez had to go becuse he lost control of some senior players. And yes, 11th two seasons running is a sackable offence....just as a manager spending more cash than any other manager ever will need to be relieved of his duties if we don't get into Europe two seasons on the bounce.

No, you have to get to the final to stand a chance of winning it. Semi, quarter last sixteen is all the same....pointless
Ha ha. I can assure you that you can't play in any cup finals if you don't win the round before.

Lol. FFS, you need a lie down lad.

Jesus. Only you could moan after a 4-0 thumping of City.

Amazing. How does any Evertonian not enjoy that , in fact really really enjoy that ? That was great , I Pine for the days when city were grouped together with the likes of Charlton and we were spoken of with united but sadly those days have gone . City are now considered a big club and they've just been spanked by lowly Everton .

Sorry if it's not popular but I loved it .

I think a big thing is that it looks like the squad is finally getting up to Koeman's required fitness levels. His plan requires the whole team to be able to run all day, and fitness was very poor as a result of the Martinez era.

I can understand being elated with the result today from the perspective of seeing it as the launch pad for a young player's career, but the apparent view that we've achieved something or turned a corner by beating a team I'd regard as the soft touch of the PL elite is bewildering.

I'll be more impressed if we put the next two opponents to the sword than this victory against a team who throw caution to the wind.
Dave I am certain your wetting yourself when posting, it's the only logical explanation in trying to find a negative today vs a team that beat Barcelona a couple of months ago.

Just as a manager spending more cash than any other manager ever will need to be relieved of his duties if we don't get into Europe two seasons on the bounce.

You're talking utter nonsense. You can chuck a load of cash at a team, but if it's finished 11th for two seasons in a row, then the squad needs to be rebuilt.

Look at the top 6 at the moment and the money they spend, those 6 teams are a mini-league of their own above the rest of the division. It will take some time to get into that calibre, no matter how much we spend.

The bit in bold is kind of a contradiction in terms like. You were happy enough to sit back relax and watch the second half of our season go down the toilet under Martinez last year. There's a lot of work to do to bring this club back to where it belongs. So far progress under Koeman has been solid. That will do fine for now.
No mate, I was happy to see the man stay in place while we still had a massive shot at winning our first trophy in 20 odd years.

I dont know if this has been mentioned, but, whether by design or luck, Ronald has got a team full of snides now.

Delighted to see Seamus, Williams, Rom, Ross, Davies, Holgate all in the last few weeks and especially today, stand up for themselves, be cynical when needed and leap to the defense of there team mate.

I think its great. It bodes well and is a huge indictment of the change in mentality that is currently going through the club.

That's actually a very good point and seems to have happened organically. Even amongst us blues fans seems like we all of a sudden don't wanna settle for 2nd best and there is a new collective 'snideness' amongst us. The blue tide is turning... Long may it continue.

At friggin last. Someone else who won't settle for grabbing a piece of cake from the masters table and think they've become king.

You know under Martinez we only beat City once in 8 games?
You know Koeman has more points against City for Everton in two games than Martinez did in six?

If your going to be 'edgy' and 'controversial' at least be consistent with your analysis. Your all over the shop here.

I actually thought that @davek would probably go missing for a few weeks after todays performance, quite surprised he's on here pushing his usual anti-Koeman agenda after a 4-0 victory against City.

You're fighting a losing battle dave.

It also helps to have teenagers in the team rather than 50 year olds ;)

Very true mate.
I do think credit must go to Koeman for this at least somewhat. He seems to not settle for second best. Sets standards and expects you to hit them. He has asked for us to be more aggressive and its showing now.

As he said today, the team is changing, the squad is changing and I think we will see a real shift over the next few months to his style. CANT WAIT.
