Ronald Koeman discussion

If we get about what we have now next season that's treading water. We didn't accept it from Moyes when he was nailing that average for a few years on a lot less cash than this feller is spending, so why should he get a free pass?

I don't see moving up the league as treading water. As I said, 7th/8th this year then 6th next year is improvement.

If we managed to catch up and get 6th this year, then yeah, I'd be looking at CL / 5th next season as being improvement.

That said I'm keen to move forwards as quickly as you are, but if Koeman improves our league position in his first 2 seasons, I'd find it difficult to say he's not performed.

8 points off 4th, bang in form, season over MY ARSE.
the seasons never over for me,till the final whistle on the final day, never like it when people say the seasons over, even worst when some said it with 19 games to go lol, dont care if it meant we would not get in europa league etc,i dont want to watch us not caring if we lost just because some say the season over,i want to win every game no matter if we were stuck in 11th etc,and wouldnt move up or down if that was the final day

But Moyes got 12 years didn't he mate? He got a free pass for 6/7 years. It was only towards the end people got frustrated with him and a lot of this was down to his attitude.

Koeman has had more money, so expecting him to get 6 years is unrealistic as well. But he deserves an opportunity to acquire his team before he's judged doesn't he?
He's getting his time.

Look, here's the situation as I see it expectation wise:

7th this season = fair enough
7th next season = not good enough, but not sackable, just a good sign that after 4 windows and his own squad largely in place he can't get us where we want.
Any failure in a third season (if he's still here) to make an assault on a CL spot is grounds for dismissal.

Having seen what this feller has done elsewhere and what he's done here I think he's a steady Eddie who doesn't have that certain creative spark that squeezes out the necessary extra points to convert an also ran into a CL spot team.

A lot of this depends on the mood of the fan base. Loosing at home every week playing turgid football whilst making terrible substitutions and wasting transfer money would be areas to avoid.
As would getting turned over repeatedly by Liverpool.
Playing football that gets wins and Goodson rocking is to be recommended.

I don't think anyone will argue with that mate. By year 3, if we continue with this spend we should be competing for the title.

It's not even about Everton anymore. It's the @davek show and he'd rather see Koeman fail for his own vindication on an Internet forum, than see Everton successful.

Weird.
Very much this, not been on as much as normal this week, but the mood of the forum, considering our form is really disappointing. These should be the days when it's at it's best (especially as RS lost:D) yet its us needing to defend the manager. Crazy stuff.
