Ronald Koeman discussion

7th should have been minimum, it wasn't and the price was paid....see how it works now?
Keep saying it.
Keep stamping your feet.
Keep putting him on a perch to knock him off yourself.

But no one 'expected' us to finish above those 6 sides above us (we may have hoped) with such a head start, certainly not in 6 months. If one or more of them had a season where their board deemed it adequate to fire their manager, like 13/14 (Moyes & AVB) then fair enough, but not one of their managers appear to be in any danger.

You are setting up your own straw man.

You know it's not realistic, but you're saying it to beat him down with.

We were in that group of 5 not so long ago.

Lol.

Nice to see Pulis piling the pressure on Koeman though. He had a twinkle in his eye when he said that!
I hope that's not a Martinez reference. Because he also dragged us to the top 13 also.

Bankrupt.

Yeah, generally agree with this Dave. My pulling you up on a previous post was purely on your statement that failing to get CL / 5th next season means he is under performing. I'm more interested in incremental improvement as the minimum.

Your above post - the bolded - I think is a pretty fair appraisal
Just to be clear, if it were me and he tipped up with two 7th place finishes after 4 transfer windows I'd have him out the club ASAP. But I think he'd survive for season three.

Isn't it just taken for granted? You get backed by a billionaire with a warchest and a £6m salary and if you dont produce a big prize you are toast?

Not much bravery in that, acknowledging what we all know to be the case.
According to you he's not a real billionaire and isn't bankrolling us.

Another bankrupt point.

*sigh* for the umpteenth time: 7th is ok for this season, I'm talking about NEXT SEASON.

Look at the table. A warchest isn't a guarantee. United and City, two of the richest teams in world football with two of the most successful managers can't break into the top 4. It would have been easy for Koeman to keep quiet in acknowledgement of the rebuilding job needed. I think he seems more focused on his goals than Mourihno and Guardiola at present.

Well this is a clear clear wind up. Given you backed Martinez for 11th and then another clear run towards a second successive bottom half finish.

You even claimed the win over Bournemouth that took us from 13th to 11th was progress.

It would surely depend on many factors :

Level of "backing"
Progress in the cups

2 7th place finishes in a row wouldnt be the worst thing, but 2 7th place finishes after a healthy spend and turgid cup runs, well, I would find that unacceptable, not sack worthy, but unacceptable.

But this season isnt over David, 16 games to go, 48 points on offer, let the games begin.

Nah, disagree. 7th this year is a considerable improvement on the previous 2 seasons. 7th the following year would be disappointing, but I'd accept one season of consolidation after one of improvement. honestly though, I think we'll see 2 consecutive years of league improvement.

Then a challenge for top four should be expected then.
