Ronald Koeman discussion

Everton winning, Liverpool losing and Davek in full melt down mode. All the vital ingredients for a perfect evening.I was worried that the Man City game was a false down but we backed that up by coming out of Selhurst Park with the win against a Palace team fighting for their lives. Were 5 points off the top 6 now as well.Around this time last year we were wondering are we going to stay floundering around mid table. So we definitely are in a better position right now under Koeman compared to last year.

Then a challenge for top four should be expected then.

Had Koeman and Walsh been recruited earlier, and had out transfer activity gone smoother, then we may have posed that challenge this season. And it isn't totally out of the question now.

The 6 becomes 7 and you will have 7 teams vying for the top spot.

Just to be clear, if it were me and he tipped up with two 7th place finishes after 4 transfer windows I'd have him out the club ASAP. But I think he'd survive for season three.
Yet when Martinez gave us two 11th place finishes you wanted him to stay.

You're either biased as per the accusations made by other posters, or you're deliberately posting wildly contradictory guff for kicks. A very sad state of affairs. Why not enjoy the winning, and the quality football on display.... unless *gasp* to do so would not sit comfortably with your agenda?

A cup, yes. In the short term. Or a CL spot. The title is way beyond us no matter who is in charge right now, never mind someone like Koeman.

But you said 'were everton..only cups and titles will do'.
Now your saying 7th is the minimum target?
What has changed?

All I wanted to see is progression from the diabolical 2 years from Koeman's predecessor and based on the stats that is what's happening.

I was not under any illusions of how the average the squad was at the start of the season so not only has Koeman has had to freshen the squad but improve on our last seasons campaign.

We were going backwards under the last incumbent so being where we are now is an improvement

Well I suppose I think we will spend another 25+ million this January. If we spend 50-100 million net per year over the next 2 years I would expect us to be competing to win the league.

I don't think that's a realistic expectation mate. Those above us have been spending huge amounts for half a decade or more now, we're not suddenly going to bridge that gap in 2 years just because we've now got the funds. We're playing catch up. It would take absolutely stellar management from Koeman and top work from Walsh to get us challenging for the title within 2 years.

I think 7th is the bare minimum this season.
You're right, I didn't mean it in that context, I does read that way, what I mean is that if Koeman finishes 7th this season it doesn't necessarily mean he's done the bare minimum that can be expected, given where we've come from and the head start the expected top 6 had on us. Of course for any of the bottom 12 to catch us now would be a poor do.

You have to keep in mind, the 13 points from 15 Everton have taken have put Davek in a dreary mood. Once they lose one or two he will snap out of it.

I think what's affecting his mood so badly (again!!) tonight is that the team whose style of football he so admires and enjoys watching got a dicking by Swansea at the library earlier today!! Everton lose he ain't happy, Everton win he finds something/anything to pick fault in and moan about! @blue to the bone had it right earlier, hopefully he'll give it a break until August!

We've just won for the 3rd league game in a row, playing much improved togger with a slew of exciting young players.

And yet Dave is on here whining. Proof if it was needed (hint: it wasn't) that he is a troll who has little interest in Everton doing well, if it conflicts with where he's set his stall out. So please for the 1000th time, stop feeding the troll. You're making it harder for him to realise he's lost his edge.

It makes this thread largely unreadable. People can't help be drawn in even though he's clearly trolling away day after day, and you can't pop him on ignore because then the thread makes very little sense. Mods don't seem able to ban him for obvious trolling either so it's a pickle alright.

That's fair, I certainly haven't helped things tonight either. Apologies guys.
