Ronald Koeman discussion

How about you making some meaningful contribution to ANY debate rather than standing on the sidelines spitting your gooey phlegm at others?

Or maybe you have no opinion worth hearing?

WHat has happened to you?

I thought you went on a bit a few years ago but now, it has gotten a bit stupid. You seem to exist only to pick futile arguments about anything and then say absolutely anything to win said arguments.

You totally derail and devalue this thread with your whopping bull crap. There is no point in trying to post because every other post is interrupted by someone else replying (in anger) to your waffle.

Have a word with yourself. Read back some of the drivel you post and ask yourself is it really worth it.

2017:

3 games
3 wins
8 goals
0 conceded

New stadium generating huge revenue, good manager who knows what he is doing. If spurs are vulnerable it will be because one of the big Spanish teams pinch one or two of their players.
As a club, we fell well behind when last they pushed on and nearly won the league.
You said it: new stadium. Historically it is a struggle for teams to make a seamless transition to new stadia AND remain where they were competitively.

They are VERY vulnerable in the next 2/3 seasons.

I dont think Rom, Davies, Holgate, Lookman feel pressure. Certainly not of our previous failings.
Nor Robles, Williams or Schneiderlin.

I agree. One of the biggest changes in mentality has to be from US, the fanbase.

I can count countless times when we have just expected the inevitable, especially against the shower across the park. The semi after Distin howler was a sense of inevitability, even though there was still all to play for.

Having the experience of winning is an advantage for the club, perhaps more so than the players.

Those with that assurance will be late 30's and above now.

I think that was a big part in the derailing of Newcastle in the 90s.

We need to shake off the underdog tag, and hopefully Moshiri can help fast track that stigma.

So why did they keep banging on about making new signings and moaning that we didn't know the colour of Moshiri's chequebook ? That's been the number one topic among Everton fans I've spoken to this season, the desire to see new faces. And you're right, Koeman has turned things around largely by working with the players he inherited :

** Improved fitness levels (which paid off handsomely in the 2nd half the last couple of games)

** Barkley now playing to his potential, after Koeman does intensive work on his development and drops him for a couple of games.

** Switched tactically to three at the back

** Given young players a run in the team (Holgate at the expense of Jagielka, Davies at the expense of Cleverley and McCarthy, Lookman now getting used ahead of Valencia)

It's not just down to the players, Koeman has played a key role, let's give him some credit for this, and also recognise that this is a work in progress, it takes time to change things around, and he'll need more time to finish the job.
Main thing that's happened: Gueye leaves for AFCON > Davies is slotted in as Koeman's hand is forced > Barkley gets the benefit of Davies and starts bossing games.

More by accident than design.

I've done that and it looks ok to me.

Its a shame that Davies played before Gana went away.

And Tom Davies has been training with the first team all season, Ronny always had him in mind.

Looking at the 'tactics' and the 'catchphrases' Koeman is using...

Big stong lads running around pressing
Direct play

This to me means wimbledon (at an extreme)...

I would prefer power and pace and guile...but lets see.

Will you slap yourself by saying this? Wimbledonlol...

Spot on mate, I witnessed those great 80's teams of Kendall and nothing less than getting back to that is acceptable. That's why Moyes and Martinez were never going to be good enough. I'm not convinced Koeman is either but let's wait and see on that one. There's no need to fear the shower across the park. That's what was great about Kendall and Royle, neither of them feared them because they'd been at Everton when we were better than them.

Come on. Gueye was our best player the first half of the season. Losing him was no 'happy accident'. Koeman has also had to cope with the long-term loss of his record signing.

I suppose dropping Jags, switching to a back 3 and totally changing the way we set up was an accident as well in your World.
