Ronald Koeman discussion

Done a decent job so far but I think people are going a bit overboard. He's essentially doing the job that Moyes did atm.

Fair assessment, I don't hold everton too the standards Martinez set in latter years. He's got us solid at home when there's no pressure, when it is a test we fail with backs to wall away from home.

We will sign better players under Koeman than moyes, and he is different in many ways but so far he's got us 7th in same position Moyes did and is getting an easy ride along with Walsh and Moshiri because fans can get few 'boss aways in europa la'

Meanwhile mid table and out of both cups.

Really good read that, this I liked "Again, though, Koeman was on the move, this time to take over the reins at Valencia. Quique Sánchez Flores had just been sacked after back-to-back defeats in the Champions League, but Koeman was optimistic about the chance to manage at a higher level. “Valencia have good quality players so it’s a question of finding the right balance. They have very demanding supporters but football is for the public to enjoy.”

This is how it should be, we can be demanding for results but still expect a level of entertainment, all day long that is what I want to hear from a manager.

We don't demand anything, utter garbage as we allowed Martinez too enter 3rd season when wheels fell off, only was removed when likes of West ham and Stoke was laughing at us.

Also don't demand trophies neither does the board with their mid table signings and attitude portrayed by club being 'happy with performance despite loss in the derby'

And Moshiri saying on Talksport he was a superstar manager along with lying saying we wanted Koulibaly but they wouldn't sell

EASILY impressed. I remember some of the rubbish said on BBC radio Mersyside when we was close TO CL under B Martinez.

Learn lessons lads.

Me neither. We all want to be in the Champions League and, as far as I'm concerned, we need to pick up as much European experience as we can along the way. Also get used to playing 2 games per week and the midweek travel. Also try and get our coefficient ranking up so we don't end up in Pot 4 when we do get into the CL. Plus it give us an opportunity to give first team experience to some of our youth players. Plus it makes us more attractive to some European footballers. Plus it gives us more match day income. Plus is opens up more advertising streams for us. Plus it gives us fans an opportunity to get away from the missus for a few days. 'kin hell. This is becoming a Python sketch;)

Exactly:

"Playing Thursday night then a league game Sunday, nightmare!"

"Woo tough game finished on the Saturday, now we have a CL game on Tuesday"

Identical scenario except arguably harder opposition in the CL.

Fair enough if you think Farhad was telling porkies about that. But could you explain why the Napoli head honcho would have said the exact same thing?

Distinctly remember calling club call saying Everton wanted Sheerer despite a fee being bid he went elsewhere.

We could easily bid for Van dijk tomorrow for 40 mil. if they want 55 we could say they wouldn't sell.

Wait, so one moment its "We've spent nothing, wheres the net spend?", and the next its "its taken 70 million t o move up 4 places"? Or in reality its "I dont like the truth, who cares about facts when you can complain about everything". In reality we have spent 15 million to move up 4 spots. And considering that includes Bolasie, who isnt playing, that means we have done it with players that cost less than the ones we sold. Massively impressive.

Sold 47mio (Stones [ex Barnsley's 20%], Oviedo and Gibson)
Bought 80mio ( (Stek 1, Geuye 7.5 Williams 12, Bolasie 25, Valencia 1.5 [loan fee],Lookman 10,schneiderlin 23)

Nett spend 33mio.

There's something in that, both rescued us from the abyss when we were plummeting like a stone towards relegation battles. However I reckon if we get to the business end of competitions, Koeman will show what separates him and Moyes.

I've said it previously and I know many disagree, but for me the Europa League next season may be more of a hindrance than a reward.

Competing in Europe and travelling away as a fan is fantastic and the part I love , however I look at how Spurs and Manure have recently faired...

...and it concerns me. Not least because of the demands on the players, hence the Summer being even more vital, but also lack of preparation etc.

If we qualify then obviously I'll support the Blues wholeheartedly, but a part of me does think another year without the EL could be beneficial.

In the long-term at least! I haven't forgotten about the 'draw' of European football either, but doubt the EL does that much in that department.
Under our previous manager i would agree with you, however under Ronald with our improved fitness i think the EL will be a big success for the club as long as we add some depth to the squad in the summer

True, as with hindsight it's clear how poor the squad's fitness was and equally there was some dross who filled the ranks. Could be very different.

Yet, I also see what it's done to the likes of Manure and Spuds playing on a Thursday in the middle of nowhere before a league game on Sunday.

If we're to cope, which I sincerely hope we do, it'll be through a mixture of better fitness, a stronger and deeper squad and being selective.

Might be a bit harsh to be fair.

I think he's rebuilt the team to what could be deemed as competing for European spots, all in one season. If we hadn't bottled it against the usual teams, things would look even brighter.

I always felt Moyes was at his level, but I feel Everton are not quite at Koemans at the moment. 3 seasons in charge will show if he can take us further than Moyes, just in my opinion of course. :)

Only time will tell. The one thing i will say is that ronald aspired to be the best in his position on the field and achieved that in spades. that may not be the case in his management career but it won't be for the lack of effort. He is a winner and second best will not be tolerated
