I would say it depends on the manner of a seventh place finish next season.
If we are still miles ahead of the eighth placed team and acquit ourselves well in one or both of the domestic cups plus progress deep into the Europa League then, all things being equal, there would be no case for sacking Ronald given the scenario you have outlined.
That would all amount to an upward trajectory even if there is no improvement in league position.
However, if we are involved in a dogfight for seventh with say, Stoke, Baggies or Barcodes and clinch it on the last day by a very narrow margin with a much reduced points tally from this season plus make absolutely no show in the domestic cups again and fail to make it out the EL group stage then it would have to be viewed as a regression from what has been a much improved campaign.
In that case I think questions would need to be asked about what progress we are making overall under him....though at that stage I would say, like Martinez, his first season buys him a third season even the second is pretty disappointing.
But.
That ain't going to happen
I still fancy we will pip Arsenal and finish sixth this season.
And I think next season will see us come on leaps and bounds

All about the context of the season, not just the league position in itself.
I'm hoping we can get in the top 6 next season, maybe even higher but I know if Koeman does it he's overachieved.
I understand the expectations will be higher 'if' Koeman is given decent money this summer but I'm not as optimistic as some people about how much he'll be given.

Considering the state Martinez left us in i wouldn't play down the impact Koeman has made at all.Our defensive stats are right up there with the best in the league.Fortress Goodison is back and we could still finish as high as 5th.7th place will be the lowest we can finish and while Everton FC has no intrest in being best of the rest 7th place is still a reasonable position for this season considering the mess Koeman inherited.I think we have scored more goals at home this calendar year than Barcelona as well for all the talk of boring football!I really do think it's time for some of Ronald Koemans knockers on here to start eating that humble pie that's being shoved into their faces right now.Because i was convinced when he was appointed manager that Ronald Koeman will bring this club back to a position befitting our status as a true giant of the english game and i am even more convinced of that right here right now.
