Lose our next two league matches and the stage will be set for the return of the prodigal son...

Get the feeling he was let down late in the transfer window and it shows.

Having said that, he seems to have completely lost the plot. I still have faith, but this insistence on playing 9 central players every game has to stop. I don't understand it one bit.

Not having that. We started 10 of his players. He might want more but this is his team.

I'm not saying he's not been given a penny for years, but he publicly stated he wants a striker and a left footed centre back, neither of which we got. And our net spend isn't huge when you factor in the Lukaku money. Maybe he should have spent on either of those desired positions instead of the 45 attacking midfielders we bought, but there we go.

It's a bit disappointing that we're starting this season in the same fashion we did his first, performance-wise.

A slow start isn't a disaster however, as we have a lot of new players to bed in. As long as things click at some point in the next month or so we'll be ok, if not fantastic.

I don't believe he'll have been ok with the lack of a striker coming in. It was (hopefully) clear to almost everyone that for a striker, goals are by a country mile the most important part of their game, which is being made more painfully obvious at present that it already was. Surely we're going to address this in January as selling Lukaku without replacing him was completely mental.

We've got about as many points as anyone expected we'd have at this point, to be fair. We've just looked absolutely dire in doing so.

When Siggy was with us we tried shoehorning him into our side on the left because of Eriksen and it just doesn't work. Failure to fit him and Eriksen in the side was why we sold him. So I was a bit baffled to see Koeman putting his record signing out of position today so that Rooney could play behind Sandro.

Everton have been a bit unlucky with these opening fixtures though, could have done with some easy ones to allow all these new players to gel.

Disagree mate, the way we look so far I'm bloody made up we have these opening fixtures, we'd have lost to a lot of teams the way we look atm, better to lose to the ones who in likelihood you'd lose to anyway given recent history.

Worrying that I don't think you actually looked that good yesterday and in all honesty you could and probably should have stuck 6 or 7 past us and it wouldn't have been an unjust scoreline either.

Brightest thing for us from that game was Pickford, and that's alarming given we shipped 3 at home and never looked like scoring...

Got 5 from the same games last season mate. Less points, looking absolutely dire whilst doing so, neither a good sign.

Aye but we didn't play them back to back with Europa League qualifiers, so that maybe excuses the dropped point. Not that any of those excuses will get us in the Champions League or win us a cup, like.

If anything though those added competitive fixtures this early in the season should have had us sharper than the rest mate, later on is when it starts catching up with you.

Usually with any team with a lot of changes you will see an element of rust or it being a little disjointed, but at least you'll see evidence of what the teams trying to do. With us atm I have absolutely no idea what we want to do in games, and more worrying I don't think koeman does either.

Think he is throwing stuff together and hoping something clicks, he does have form for his side's having appalling periods when they look dire only for something to click or for him to get lucky on a forced change due to injury etc.

Luck eventually runs out though.

A bad result in Italy mid week followed by a battering at United will see justified pressure placed on him.

got a legitimate source for the that van dijk statement? Also in 2013 summer window.
TRANSFER RESULTS 13/14
Earnings/expenditures Arrivals/Departures Transfer fee
Income 16 £41.49m
Expenditures 17 £28.62m
Total results +£12.87m

True in fact, Martinez got around £16m net per season to spend. Maybe the sell to buy thing was more applied to Moyes.

If the Barkley and Niasse deals did not go tits up we would have balanced the sheet out this summer.
