Ronald Koeman discussion

Our first 2 results in the league were good though. Since then we've faced 2 of the 3 best sides in the league. We face the other one tomorrow.

Should we ever, ever be 3-0 down at half time at home to Spurs? Obviously you can take a heavy defeat to the top sides in the league. There's no shame in that. There can be shame in the type of performance we put in. Same goes for Atalanta. Against Spurs, we had the entire second half to attempt to rally, maybe get a goal back, give the fans some fight to cheer for and some hope for future games. Instead after half time we looked even worse than we did in the first half. That's just abysmal.

We're going to lose football matches. Let's face it we're all used to it by now. But some posters seem to want to take all context and evidence out of their posts. Of course we can lose to Spurs and Chelsea. It would be nice if we gave it a bit of a go mind you. Is that too much to ask?

The fact that people expect a heavy defeat and are hoping for damage limitation whilst saying the season starts against Bournemouth says everything. Small time mentality reigns supreme again in the upper echelons of our club, no wonder we have no confidence as fans.

Its the fans saying the stuff that gives the fans no confidence? Hey? Think again. OK,we missed out on a striker. Barca missed out on Courtinho! Does that mean Barca are small time? City missed out on a couple that they wanted, etc. etc. Nobody had a perfect window...we had a better window than most. If supporters lose confidence after four league games and one Euro defeat in five games, its the supporters who should be taking a good look at themselves, as well as the coach and the players.

The board and club hierarchy are fraudulent and have destroyed the ethos of this club over my lifetime.

The players are struggling to find form because half of them barely know each other. Koeman is struggling to find a way of fitting them together because he has so many new players and confidence is low because we've been out played convincingly a few times on the bounce.

They're not trying to play badly, they're just in a rut. When the above problems begin to get solved then we can start to give top sides more of a game. Manu will come too quickly for us though.

..and my opinion of your comment is....Complete and utter rubbish. Your only excuse can be that you know very little about the business of football, and even less about life. But,of course, for the purposes of the forum, I respect your right to say whatever you like, no matter how much tosh it is.
If you have evidence of fraud, get yourself down to the cops right away, you'll be a hero.

Not sure that's true..I saw some figures somewhere showing that more 'youth' had got a game at Everton than at any other Prem club. RK is at a crossroads, but the crossroads have come too soon. No improvement in league position and a couple of poor cup runs will see him having lots of questions to face, and to ask himself at the end of this season. He has talked the talk....he now has to prove how much bottle he has. There is no doubt that we have a squad of 'better' players...he now has to turn them into a team. Is there a Dutch manager/coach who has been an outright success in the Prem? Maybe its the Dutch attitude which is their downfall in this league?

Correct.. but it was as a result of playing youth as no other options. Now he has options playing time will reduce mark my words .. look at his time with Southampton. ...

The best club in the land for youth development and he ignored youth

Martina over Kenny. . Proof in the pudding

Fraudulent as in totally inept ie Roberto Martinez. Not monetary.

Longest period of no success in club history by far. No one wants to do anything about it. It's the elephant in the room for them.

So many new players? Or so many new players who all play in the same position and negate one another? He doesn't have to play Sigurdsson, Klaassen and Rooney does he? I'm sorry I just can't accept that he's struggling in the middle of September. It's excusable that he doesn't know his best starting 11, best formation? And that he doesn't seem to have a plan of how he wants us to play?

The fact is the top managers know how they want to play. They know exactly what they want from their team. They know from the first day of training. And everything will be geared to that. Mourinho, Conte, Poch, Guardiola, they know exactly what they want. Even Klopp and Wenger know. They buy the right players for their system. They all have their flaws, some more than others, but at least you can watch one of their matches and know what the plan is and see some coherent thought process there. Unfortunately when you're tinkering around as much as Koeman is you look like an amateur. This isn't preseason. This is the real deal.

Simply put we have to set the bar high and stop always looking for get-outs for the manager and players.

15 months into RK we cannot accept tomorrows scenario where we are looking to come away without humiliation, and only that.

RK is paid handsomely, as are the players. We are entitled to expect effort, organisation, commitment, coherency, and yes, ambition.

I have heard some say that RK would only be in danger if we were in imminent threat of relegation and if that's all he has to do to keep the smiles in the boardroom, then god help us all.

There are just no excuses for the rubbish served up in the last 3 games - no excuses at all.

I recall a rugby coach once saying that you could control performance but not results but one massively helps the other.

Personally I would not be willing to accept another 3 games of crap, certainly would not give him until Christmas to get it sorted, end of October at the latest.

There has to be a culture of ambition, achievement, and success at the club and not shrugged shoulders all the time and hiding from everything.

It has to come from the top down so it is on Moshiri to take action to send that message to all at the club if and when it needs be.

Tim you are succumbing to the very "small time" thinking you were talking about earlier :)

For the record......those "2 of the best 3 teams in the league"?

Burnley have played them both, away, and taken four points.

Too many excuses being made for our listless start to the season.
