Not one for knee-jerk reactions either but I thought all along since the Chelsea game that we will never go anywhere as a club if our custodians don't uphold and enforce standards in how we play and results.
Why on earth should we consider the last 4 league games as some sort of free pass? What is the point at all if we don't wish to compete with and beat these sides and when we don't, what are we going to do about it?
If we don't insist on better and be bold then we'll remain in the rut we have been in for 25 years.
Daniel Levy took action in getting rid of Villas-Boas after a 0-5 reverse against Liverpool. Free pass? Absolutely not, and look where that attitude has taken them since.
A 1-10 aggregate in these 4 games is just frankly embarrassing. We had our fun with signings in pre-season but it actually hurts that fans of the sides we as fans aspire to compete with can look at us and just see how abysmal we are.
Thing is, Bournemouth and Burnley aren't going to roll over to accomodate Koeman and even winning those games, well, so what in effect if longer-term damage has been done over the last fortnight.
It just feels we have been put very firmly back in our box again.
On balance, and if we can afford it, I would pay Koeman off. There is a ceiling with him and we are not going to break through it under his management. More positively, I think it would say loud and clear that 0-12 in four games is just not acceptable, and never can be at EFC.
