Ronald Koeman discussion

I think it's far more likely we will improve over the coming weeks than Koeman get the sack. Easier fixtures, more time for the players to bed in etc. I also doubt the players have stopped playing for him.

Amen to that...becuase I need to love football again.

You say that like it excuses the situation, when in reality it is damning evidence of incompetence.

If Sigurdsson isn't good enough to get in the teams above us (and I agree he is not) then why oh why would you spend £45m on him? It's an absurd idea. Part of Koeman's job was to ensure we did get in sufficient quality to allow us to compete, so if we haven't he needs to shoulder a fair portion of the blame. He is being paid £6m a year, and the owner has said the aim is top 6. If he can't get us there, why are we throwing money away employing him?

One of the best in the league in his position.... apparently.

Why is Koeman so angry with united? That's the second time in a few months he has taken digs at united and saying 'they didn't impress me'. Mourinho kind of baited him with the 'should get top 4 with money spent' comment but that was in response to koeman's own 'united look poor with money spent' comment I guess.

Does he take digs at every club?

Ossie and Micheal Appleton were one MOTD2 extra yesterday saying how important it's been for Burnley not changing their back 4. And they've only had to change Heaton because of his shoulder and that having that consistency in your defensive gives confidence to the rest of the team etc.

Yet it's been like playing musical chairs on a merry-go-round for us this season.

Keane has had a different right back next to him every single game this season. That to me is just absolute madness. It's just such a bizarre thing to do, especially when we're being thrashed every game at the moment.

We've started with 5 at the back and 4 at the back both five times so far this season. We've shipped goals in each of these formations. Yesterday we got absolutely battered for the first 10-15 minutes until Jags (the glorious leader of our back 5) realised that they could actually go outside of the box and push up a bit.

That coupled with the fact that our 'strikers' like to come into our own half to get the ball just knackers us for space and having no wide players does the same, so it's just a compressed mess in the middle of the pitch. And when we do manage to get the ball we're in our own half and trying to counter attack - which in itself poses as a problem as we have no pace and our 'strikers' and #10s are then having to go out wide to get the ball rather than through the middle.

I absolutely hate us playing both Gueye and Schneiderlin as well. They offer absolutely nothing attacking wise together esepcially Schneiderlin who needs dropping.

Chelsea, City, Spurs and even United to an extent last night all play with 1 main DM. I really don't see why Gueye can not do that job himself and have Klassen or Davies next to him to offer some headless chicken running support but be the main link between the back *insert random defense here* and the attacking players. Rather than Rooney having to come into our own half and get the ball from them on the edge of the D and then have no one in front of him when he turns.

Hopefully he uses that next 5 games to enstil some consistency into the starting 11 and sort out this rancid midfield and attack. All of the next 5 games are winnable, but if we lost 1 of them I'd honestly just throw him into the bin.* I think Sunderland game is a great chance to try and start to build up on something with a strong team and get some consistency going... but I don't think that will happen. We'll play 4 at the back, with Holgate on the right. Stek will start in goal and Besic will start in midfield. Nailed on.

* he won't though because Kenwright.

The amount of times I had to read Williams' name there made me tear up.

The board stopped a striker being signed. Bill still rules the roost. No manager can thrive under this regime. How can we get 4th and compete if BK pulls the plug on goalscoring replacements??
Lol come on.

Koeman had a hard on for a completely pointless player in Gylfi. They spent 45m on him.

They then saw how utterly crap we were and how all of the signings don't look very good and probably pulled the plug.

Well we all see things differently.

Yesterday showed me that we can play football, we have some good technical players and the scoreline in the end was just ridiculous.

He needs to make a few changes and he needs to make them now, such as -

1. Do away with the back 3, we do not have the personnel to use that system.
2. Stop playing Rooney as the striker, he is far more effective just behind.
3. Stop playing so negatively, though some will use the opponents as the reason why he has been doing that, by showing a bit of ambition, Burnley have had some good results already against sides who finished in the top 4 last season.
4. It's Gana or Schneids for me, not both and Gana wins hands down.
5. Get some pace up top and give Sandro, DCL and Lookman some freedom to go and play.

I missed the game myself flying back yesterday so the scoreline did seem unjust but it,s not isolated in results so far. It,s the collapse that was telling again.

Here is the thing, I think he knows he has to make changes but he blew a lot of money on players who he now needs to play which is costing us all around the pitch. Personally he is a stubborn man like a few mangers before him and he would rather get fired/walk before he gives up and rips up the system.

If he had any sense he would promote Unsy to the first team coaching set up and take on board another opinion that could change his fortunes.

Proof ? Other than Joey Barton saying so...

Barkley fiasco = no cash = no replacement= Moshiri calling sky sports to blame Koeman `his side now`=
if Barkley had left = sell to buy ...... Thats proof enough for me anyway Im off to dream about our `imaginary stadium`

Agree. Let's not forget the money he spunked on ANOTHER midfielder who can't even get a game. He had plenty of time and money to get a striker in, but didn't.

We haven't got even a little threat up front, and we get cut open in two passes.

We showed some fight but we didn't actually play well, not even a little bit.

Unless we consider making 200 passes to get into the opponents half progress....

"Easier fixtures" ahead apparently despite us just about scraping a win at home against a bang average Stoke side.

KOEMAN OUT

the same side that have also taken points off Arsenal and United

We have to use our home advantage and get back to some form.

Four wins and things will look very different.

Yet without having any threat up top, we created two golden chances that both Rooney and Sigurdsson should have scored
