Ronald Koeman discussion

We should amend our expectations to a midtable finish then.

This is confusing now. 11th is bottom half (and DOOM) 7th is midtable? If we come 5th do we win the league?

To be honest I dont really worry about where we finish until we do so. I take each game as it happens.

Mad how we're currently sitting 3rd after six games yet it's almost universally agreed that we're still looking very average.

Granted our fixture list has been relatively kind so far, but it's still hard to gauge where we're actually at right now considering we have a new manager coming off the back of two pretty dismal seasons.

Realistically, was anyone else expecting us to be in this position after the six games we've had?

Probably not expecting we would be in the top four, at least for 24 hours, so early in Koeman's reign.

But to be honest, I would be thinking we should beat Stoke and Boro at home.

I would have, indeed did do, bet on us winning at Sunderland, Baggies and Bournemouth.

I fancied a draw against Spurs and a draw tonight did not surprise me as Palace at Goodison has become a bogey game.

So I don't think fourteen points from those opening seven fixtures should come as any great shock to anyone.

If anything, I would have looked at those seven games and fancied we would have had at least one point more, I was surprised we actually lost at Bournemouth.

There are much sterner tests ahead.

But at least, on the plus side, we normally slip on more than one banana skin when confronted with a run of fixtures like we have had so far :)

Couldn't agree more with that assessment. If we can grind out a few tough points against the top teams like we did early last season we will be on for a decent season. Can't see us making Europe though.

Actually I made a mistake Marty.....it is 14 points from seven games

Sorry your "quote" is not reflecting my edit.

The players need to take responsibility for their work rate. If they aren't prepared to work hard then Ronald should give them the boot.

I hate seeing players coast through a half of football and seem content at dropping 2 points. We lacked hunger and desire. And it's a recurring theme.

Well Tim, when this was happening last season we were told Bobby was to blame for not motivating the players.

There now seems to be a distinct lack of motivation out on the pitch.....not just tonight.

Boro was a snoozefest until they scored and roused us for fifteen minutes.

then it went back to snooze control in the second half.

That stems from the manager.
