Ronald Koeman discussion

Improve in what areas though? I'd say he means that we need to turn up for a whole game rather than just 90 minutes, so the emphasis is on effort rather than style.

Absolutely David.

We've had the brass-necked behaviour of Bill and Bob, but ok we'll all need to be strong necked to watch the football that looks to be served up this season.

Make ready Ashley "the crossfield cannon " Williams, another aerial barrage is required

Because we have 'the style'. When we click (e.g. put the effort in for 90 minutes) we'll be brilliant - as in the times we have turned it on this season we have been.

The issue with the previous style was that we couldn't defend, so in the case of games where we didn't play well, we'd ultimately lose.

Jagielka looks up, sees five midfielders in front of him with Lukaku beginning to run in behind the defensive line

Out for a goal kick

When Koeman had his first season at S'ton that team played some wonderful fast flowing stuff. In his second season, though, he had to let go players like Lallana and he reverted to something that we see shaping up here now at Everton: a team that emphasises athleticism over guile and creative play. Possibly if he gets more quality in we'll see him change this Everton team's style of play into the S'ton of the first season he was there.

First half hour versus Spurs
Second half versus Sunderland
First 20 minutes versus Palace

...they are the periods of play this season that you could honestly say we played outstanding football.

The problem is the utter fraud left him a squad full of complete and utter tosh that hes forced to play in games.

Nobody would buy any of the complete shitters so we are forced to play players like The Clev and hoping to claim a victory.

Ive noticed a change in Koemans words recently, he realises that some of our players are complete and utter tosh so he just has to hope we can get till January without being in the bottom 3.

Coupled with Barkley and Lukaku playing like they have never played football before and we have a side without any goal threat at all.

Before it all went wrong in the El Fraudo era, the term (prematurely as it turned out) 'Walton Globetrotters' was coined. This became the 'Walton Wobblers' (flown over by the Walton Luftwaffe of course), but ok, I think we are now in the time of the 'Walton Wanderers' - we're doing kick for position Rugby style, get our grocks in the final third and physically bully the rest into goals / mistakes. Not pretty but has been semi-successful to date vs the dregs of the league.

Agree, 7 games in is way to early to judge, thought our best performance was against Spurs, but apart from that game it's been really patchy IMO, a decent half here, decent half there, need to start getting some consistency into our performances.

Yep it's deffo only been in patches as in a 2nd half here or a 1st half there. I think they are a brittle bunch hence why he bought the ones he did.

First things first was.to get them fit and disciplined and defensively looking tighter. He's done that already ( though still a bit to go as in get a top keeper ). Now we aren't shipping goals I'm sure in time he will look to purchase more creative players up top.

He never got to utilise Lallana, Dave, he forced a move when Koeman arrived.

He brought in better players though to his credit, just takes time after what he was left with by the previous manager.

Poch left Southampton in a better position and Koeman improved. Martinez left us in a significantly worse position and Koeman has a tough task on his hands. I Can't blame him for immediately trying to make us solid at the back after what we've seen in recent years.

How many times did we hear last season that Martinez had at his disposal the best squad since the 80s? In fact, when we went four wins on the spin this season the very same point of view was trundled out again. We didn't/dont but they are vey respectable.

The first team were shown how to play football by the previous regime. They can pass and put together attacking moves (on the deck from anywhere on the pitch). Koeman is not exploiting that. If he'd come in and added energy and discipline - that was all that was required. But he seems determined to set aside everything and just commit to attack in small numbers and keep lots of bodies behind the ball. It's negative. And the ultimate demonstration of negativity is hoofing it at home against Palace.

Absolute tosh

We played some good football in the first half on Friday, second half we lost our shape and discipline and had no width.

His only real error for me was leaving that useless inert nothing of a player - Cleverley on the pitch

Evidence enough to call his judgement into question, I'm sure you'd agree.
