Ronald Koeman discussion

Jose couldn't at Chelsea, does that dilute how well he did in relative terms in his first season post-return?
Absolutely not.
I am not saying Martinez is anywhere near Mour, I am just saying that first season was brilliant because of Martinez, not in spite of.
I don't get the question. Simplify it for a thicko and I'll try.

Then why did you use that as an example?
The manner in which we won was terrific.
I remember a point in the game where Kev, Pienaar and Barkley started playing a one touch passing drill, mid-game, in the opponents half.
We were awesome that first season, all in all.
Second and third, not so. Deserved to be fired.
Why can't the first season be left alone though? We were fantastic.

Any manager can have 1 good season, it is maintaining it that is the issue.

He took over a decent side, added well to it in the market with Barry, Lukaku and McCarthy and then reaped the rewards with the feel good factor of a new broom sweeping through after a lot of familiarity.

However, once that had gone he was found out for what he actually was, an inept manager with zero idea of how a team might defend and once the players sussed that, the crap hit the fan and the results got steadily worst as time went on.

Very little doubt we would be at the other end of the table if he had stayed.

Glad Koeman has come in and stopped us conceding goals. Once the players feel they have a solid base to work from we might see a lot better going forward from the attackers too.

Love you Mike x

All I am saying is that even though season 2 and 3 were very bad, which I agree with, it does not dilute how outstanding his did in his first season.
Jose was horrendous last season in what he did with a title-winning side, doesnt mean the season before Chelsea awful, it just means that his second season was sub-standard and he deserved the sack.
Honestly, that's it. I'm with you now, i've seen the light. RM had to go. But season one was awesome and it was down to him.

Ah get it now, TBF Jose won it in his second season his first season back was one of obvious progression. He also put out a reserve side in his first season back and cost RS the League along with a helping hand from The DJ beating slipper.

Yes you are right, but the point remains the same.
As I say though, i'm with you on S2 and S3. 100%

I was joking. But if the previous post is vaulted in a way that makes you look good, it likely means that Koeman has failed.

if he is to fail, and Las Palmas continue being brilliant then and we snap up my man then I will look great and will finally have my moment in the sun. that is all

i dont think Koeman will fail though, just do okay until he wants off or if we have a board with balls who will boot out an okay manager to aim a bit higher

I agree. I think Koeman is a solid manager that could build an ok foundation for us. I don't see the brilliance that everyone else seems to.

I hope I'm wrong.

Not quite, Jose season one was good, Season two excellent, season three a disaster, but I'm certain in time, as autobiographies are released we will find out exactly what happened to Chelsea last year.

What happen to Everton was somewhat different. We were Martinez'd.

Wigan under Bruce

Close of play in his final season 08/09

PL 38 W 12 D 9 L 17 S 34 C 45

Points 45

Final position 11th

Wigan Under Martinez

Close of play in his final season 12/13

PL 38 W 9 D 9 L 20 S 47 C 73

Points 36

Final position 18th and Relegated

Everton under Moyes

Close of play in his final season 12/13

PL 38 W 16 D 15 L 7 S 55 C 40

Points 63

Final position 6th

Everton under Martinez

Close of play in his final season 15/16

PL 37 W 10 D 14 L 13 S 56 C 55

Points 44

Position when binned 13th

Now let's hope Koeman progresses us season on season, this year that will be easy, next year will be interesting, but by then the club will of had two further Windows.

This is a great time to be blue IMHO.

I want the Nice manager Farve? Listening about him on the radio today and his track record seems exquisite.
