Google is your friend, Dave

That's just a summary of the beginning of this season and who he has criticized at United

A quick Google will give you examples at Chelsea and Real Madrid too
Mourinho went to town on Marcelo on and off the pitch when he first joined Madrid, Marcelo was playing wing back but wasn't tracking or putting in a shift defensively. Jose cracked the whip and brought in Coentrao which in turn brought out the best in Marcelo.
Koeman is similar, he wants competitors and in time Everton will benefit hugely.

Football is a game played out in front of tens of thousands of passionate supporters. Your strengths and weakness are exposed to be judged and commented on every week of every season. I would suggest if you get upset or dispirited by some mild constructive criticism publicly offered by your boss, then professional football is not the career for you.

He doesn't have a clue how to handle Barkley it seems.

It could be said that given his lack of progress over the last 4 seasons, neither has any other Everton Manager or his loan managers either...and yes I know one was Warnock, but he's had a variety of different types in his domestic and International career... the last 3 of which wouldn't have a bar of him and one walked out after 70mins(?) when watching him (yes I know, Fat Sam but still)
Apart from the early 50M stuff in the newspapers, not one has mounted a Mourihno/Stones typecampaign - nor has (to his credit) his agent done a Lukaku either

Nah, for me Koeman and like it or not (you don't) he has the final say, has given him a...'Strike two' aka - 'How many times do I have to tell you son?'

Why is it anger? It's a statement of fact: Dutch football people DO have that attitude that they play to the gallery with.

I bet @Dutch Toffee wouldn't have any objections to that statement.

You're clearly making yourself angry at a complete and utter non-issue. He said nothing wrong in that press conference and I think you know he didn't.

You seem absolutely desperate to attack Koeman for anything, and it really is bizarre.

That wasn't diplomacy, That was a lost soul spewing out Bullshit because he did not have a clue how to handle the situation he was in. Koeman is telling it as it is, that way there can be no comebacks in the future
Yeah, I hear that's what the Belgian FA said. "He cant handle the Everton situation, let's put him in charge of the second ranked team in world football"

Regarding Barkley's situation under Koeman. Throughout Martinez's tenure, Martinez never strayed from his 4-2-3-1 formation, meaning Barkley was always first choice for the Center attacking role.

The issue is less so Barkley's ability, though his form is in issue. The issue is Koeman's demands. Koeman is pragmatic, and we haven't seen the 4-2-3-1 regularly. And the problem is that Barkley doesn't have a specialist position. He'd be best utilised having free reign of the attacking third, almost like a De Bruyne role. However this isn't Koeman's preferred system.

Barkley's defensive work is really lacking, and in situations where you need a team to defend as a unit like last week he isn't the best option. The reason I've really been impressed with Koeman is that he adapts to games and the opposition not just before a game but during. In a way, this is the complete opposite to Martinez who was unflinching and stubbornly clung to a philosophy. And I'm not saying this isn't an effective approach. Koeman's will change the formation and players how he sees necessary.

There are a few players who will always have a place in the team - Lukaku, Gana, Williams and Stek, maybe extended to Coleman and Baines. In between that spine the players are interchangeable. And therein is the Barkley issue. There are already signs that Koeman isn't shy of stamping his authority, even a player like Holagte who had a superb start to the season gets dropped for Coleman as soon as he's fit.

Other than the spine of the team I mentioned we never really know who will play and where. And this has given Barkley a reality check, because he has been in the mindset that both his position and place on the team is safe regardless. What we are seeing now is his struggle to adapt to these changes. As to what will happen to Barkley, it is still early days in Koeman's management. This is why I have some sympathy for him, this dramatic change has affected him mentally, and now he is in an uncertain period in his career.

It wasn't said with negative intent so I highly doubt it will have an effect on dressing room morale. You read it and sounds worse than what it is. He will more than likely start tomorrow, I'm sure Ross is man enough to take the opportunity Koeman will give him and show he's got what it takes to perform for him.
My point is: he's said it in public once before. What extra value does he think he'll get out of continuing to give a running commentary of Barkley to the media?

If it was me I'd be thinking: "Alright, you've made your point. STFU now - I wasn't even playing last week and you're feeding the 'kin trolls with stuff about me again".

And that would be fair comment too.

Not even handed though is he? Where was the dressing down for Jagielka this week for hacking away twice in the penalty area and conceding two pens and going walkabout for the City goal?

Maybe so. I dont think so.

I do think he needs to show a bit more humility about this club. Apart from the obligatory "Everton are a big club" stuff, he comes across like this is his stepping stone to somewhere else...when he's achieved absolutely f.a. in the managerial game. He actually comes across to me like he's irritated to be here...like he was expecting a massive CL playing club to step in for his talents after getting 7th and 6th place for S'ton. Deluded if so.

I dont like his attitude to some of these players; I dont like his off-handedness in press conferences; I dont like his "here's the reason I'm not living in your City"' comments (who gives a flying one, live where the 'kin hell you like and shut it); I dont like his football thus far...it's defensive and boring and cowardly for the most part.

You are turning into a bigger laughing stock now with this campaign. Go out and get some fresh air, its embarrassing now at this stage. Laughable!!
