Ronald Koeman discussion

To early to have a go at Koeman, he was left a right bag of misfits and wasn't given much to work with due to a rubbish pre season transfer wise, we waited to long and missed the boat.
We lack presence all over the pitch and quality in important positions, and have aging players in key positions.
Both keepers bang average at best , Burnley keepers is better than them both.
Baines looks injury prone these days.
Coleman , haven't a clue what's wrong with him lately, would keep, Cana, rom, Bolasie, Williams, few others for the squad.
Jag's, was one of my favorites looks either carrying an injury or age has caught up.
Should bin, all the rest as they either not good enough or no good for this mangers style of play.
He has a hard job on his hands, not going to be easy.
One thing that worries me is not giving the kids a run out now and again, likes of Holgate, must be worth giving them a run out after some of the form of are players of late.
Plus we never seem to play a full decent game.

I honestly thought 5th (being optimistic) or 6th. A new manager comes in, especially one of Koemans reputation, gets the players fired up, more tactically astute. Improves defence. Guaye improves the Mid. One of Europes top strikers up top. He spent 25m on Bolasie (what a waste) Stoke, West Ham and Soton finished above us last year. Given the trouble at Old Toilet and Leics awful start. I thought Koeman would have us firing.

Sheeeeesh.

Shocking, the regularity of boos is embarrassing, why do our fans think we should be winning every game? If we're not winning you can sense the unease around the ground. The lack of patience to some players is shocking. Also, the treatment by some 'fans' towards Ross is not healthy, for him or us. We are there to SUPPORT. The atmosphere at home is detrimental.

So we shouldn't be uneasy when we're not winning?

We are exactly like every other set of fans, if not worse. The treatment of Ross is shocking, the boos when we are in the top 4 in October is shocking, given where we've been for the last 3 seasons. When did we become so self entitled? We've been a mid table team for 3 years and yet we boo when we're in the top 4 in October !!!!!!!!! Have I missed something? When/how did expectations become so high? we're no different to any other set of fans. Please stop this romantic notion of us being better, more knowledgable, more integrity, it's embarrassing. The atmosphere at most of the games in the Prem is awful. Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, both Mancs, Spurs are really bad IMO, or certainly comes across that way. You couldn't get any more self entitled fans than them lot. Given the money all them have had to spend I suppose you could almost forgive their fans for the high expectations. But us? The best atmospheres for me are at the likes of Palace, Hull, Burnley, Watford
Etc. They're not self entitled and are there to urge their team onto every point they can. Just look at a thread on here a couple of weeks back about our run of games. Beat Bournemouth and Palace, the expectation of getting a huge return from the the next 6 or 7 games, tells us all we need to know about unreal, unfounded expectation, the general cockiness/over confidence of our fans is, for me, to blame for the lack of atmosphere. We think we're better than we are. Let's get back to basics and SUPPORT the team for EVERY point, not boo when we get a point because we think we SHOULD be winning. Let's stop turning on players, especially young players, it's not doing anyone any favours.

So we were in the top 4 and you complained about expectations being too high...

8th, scratch below the surface of our 1st 11 and we ain't got much quality. God help us if we lose Romelu for a period of time.

Now you expect 8th.

Really? So you'd be happy at finishing, say, 9th? Roberto was rightly given the bullet for 2 11th placed finishes. We get a highly rated manager who comes in & improves the defence. He spends 25m on a winger to go with one if the best strikers in the Prem and you'd be happy finishing just above mid table.

Now 8th and mid table isn't good enough.

Makes perfect sense to me. Except it's not 6 places, it's 5 places. I think it maybe asking too much to get top 5 with Arsenal, Spurs, Citeh, Liverpool, Martinez the fraud got them 1 place higher, playing a brand of football that was alien to the players. To expect Koeman to improve on 6 places isn't really that far fetched when you consider

1: the team massively underperformed last season
2: our defence has improved massively with the signing of Williams
3: we now have one of the brightest upcoming managers in the game, allegedly
4: Guaye has been a success, improving the Midfield
5: if you believe most on here, Bolasie has been ace and is a big improvement on what we had.
6: Lukaku

Stoke, Soton, West Ham and obviously Leicester finished above us last season, there's 3 placings, maybe 4 we can improve on straight away. Combine all the points above, why can't we improve 6 places. I'm not demanding top 6, I want, and think we should be challenging. Utd are no great shakes under Jose, Chelsea is an unknown quantity. I just don't get people on here saying they'd be happy finishing mid table. Can anyone really say that Soton, West Ham and stoke are better than us?

But you're not demanding top 6...

If anyone thinks we're not good enough to break into the top 6 then we've got the wrong Manager. By common opinion, we under performed last season and had a fraud as manager who couldn't set up a defence. This season, if the Manager is as good as everyone thinks, surely we should at least be challenging for top 5 or 6. That's what I expect anyway.

Oh no, wait. You are.

The Angel Gabriel has had an epiphany of sorts
